Just a Good boy

a retired circus elephant

used to ride bicycles

and tease the circus dwarfs and clowns

but he has such a big heart

with wrinkled skin

so  much like you & I

afraid of death, worrisome

afraid of sickness and pain

but he found Jesus one day

while singing in the shower

so now he sings with abundant joy

sometimes he sings

"America the Beautiful"

thanks God for helping him

get a good dose of circus peanuts

for him and Elsie

Just a good boy he is

wags his tail like a Bulldog

The elephant such a heavy log

but he found Jesus

He is not sure what it all means

because he was not a religious elephant before

but he goes to church

they hold the door for him

He heard of St. Francis of Assisi

the old day animal chaplain

and the man lay hands on the elephant in prayer

and now everything is allright

he has no fear of death

no fear of disease

his life is full of ease

and he hopes to one day go to Heaven

and see his mother again

waving his sweet trunk in the air

he trumpets

"thank you Jesus"

and he has a good day

(Genesis ch. 6-9; Noah's Ark)
