Sweet Max

You were really something

With paws held out

Was the best and gentle dog

A person could know

Walking in sunshine

Walking in snow

So honest

Sitting by the gate

So I could let you out

Now the shelter

Was no place for you

But you did find a home

And I am glad you got help

I remember putting blades of grass

In your mouth, such a good boy

So patient for a treat

I even rubbed your belly

In the summer grass

As you looked up towards Heaven

In ecstasy, just to be good friends

Yes, good friends

And someday I will meet you

Up there, up there

Where we can be together forever

That's right, forever

Your nice warm paw in mine

Unconditional love

Unconditional love
