To cross the river Styx
in a ship of pine and ruby
as you long for what has passed
and even more for what is to be,
for you know what twists and beckons
on the wav'ring shores beyond
singing lullabies to hypnotize,
immolating mortal bonds.

But you can't quite help but wonder
how it'd feel within the depths
of the stillness, of the darkness,
of the origin, of rest.
How would it be to launch yourself
from safety into terror?
Into sweetest powers promised,
legends of this inky mirror.

You take the leap, reflection breaks,
looking glass is cracked.
You're hoping you have found anew
a life within the black.
