For the Black Rose, it stopped a long time ago.

Do you feel it?

I don’t.

That pitter-patter raindrop within the chest

That ever bounding muscle within,

Keeping the rhythm

Tapping out the beat.

A murky tempo.

Not that mine beats

Or it didn’t.

Mine stopped.

I suppose that makes me dead, fitting as I took the reapers hand and she mine.

I could give her my body,

My mind,But never my heart.

I tried

Though failure gripped me tight.

One can still love without a heart,

Can’t they?

I’ve done well so far,

The love of death.

If only a smile could start the pulse, as I know her beam can.

I wish my heart would beat upon that look,

I truly do.

I wonder what would bring back that pitter-patter,

What will make it move again?

That heart sound,

So I may live,

Or feel as such for another day.
