There was that alarm again.

Beep Beep Beep

I’m slightly aware of an arm reaching out from underneath the warmth of the blankets to try and hit the ‘snooze’ button. I heard a loud crash and then the beating Beep beep beep once more.

I threw a pillow over my head and pretended not to hear the stupid thing beeping incessantly.

Beep Beep Beep.

I groan and sit up in bed, my hair sticking in every direction and sleep clinging to my eyes. I see the alarm clock in the middle of my floor and attempt to will it off with my eyes.

Beep beep beep.

The noise makes me so irate that I sharply jerk myself out of bed intending to grab the noisy object and bang it against something sharp. Instead I trip over the dumb things cord and fall face first three inches from the snooze button.

My nose is throbbing but my ears ring with the conistant beeping and I know the only thing that will satisfy me is to demolish the alarm clock.

Beep beep beep.

I grab the alarm clock in one swift motion before getting up and banging it against my head board a couple of times. After a moment I hear something…

I smile to myself completely fulfilled and let myself drop back into my still warm soft fluffy pillows.

I am just about to enter the veil of sleep when a soft ticking reaches my ears. The ticking becomes louder and louder until I finally I can taste the note that it keeps repeating.

I move my pillow off my ears to hear beep beep beep.

I scowl to myself before giving up and climbing out of bed shutting the alarm off In the process. Unfortunatly though I was still exhausted and ended up stubbing my toe on the door, getting my hair stuck in the blow dryer, staining my clothes with my breakfast, and ended up showing up late for work.

I settle into my desk irritably when my secretary comes in. She’s about to speak when she stops herself, “What’s that noise?”

My ears perk up pulsing through the silence looking for the sound she was detecting. I pull my cell phone out of my purse.
