Welcome to my Disney Challenge!
Pick one of the movies from below and rewrite it into a short story.
It can be any genre and any length, just make sure it follows basically the same plot line.
And when I say any genre I mean any genre. Lilo and Sitch could even be a romance, whatever!
The story will be due by December 20th, so before the holidays, hope it isn't cutting it too close for anyone.
Also, if anyone who enters wants to help rate the stories that would be awesome, and I'll definately take opinions into consideration since I'm no publisher.
So if anyone who wants to enter could pick one of the titles and comment to claim it that would be excellent.
Okay, here's the list:
Cinderella ~ Katherine Coitier
Snow White ~ Susan Vallente
Peter Pan ~ PeaceLoveLingleton
Sleeping Beauty ~ Mistress of Word Play
Beauty and the Beast ~ Forbidden
Pocahontas ~ ConcreteAngel
Lilo and Stich
Lion King ~ Vampiregirl
The Incredibles ~ eragon96
If there are any other animated movies that Imissed that someone would really like to do let me know.
Finally the results!
Again, so sorry about this contest, or rather lack of. A small amount of people entered and even fewer actually submitted their work. So a huge thank you and a gold star to those of you who participated. Another thing I would like to apologize for is for taking so long to get the results up. First I wanted to give the others an extra day or two to get something in then I was out of town and barely got on the internet long enough to post chapters to my novel. But, after the terribly long wait, I've made up my mind. Another big thank you to SecretValentine for helping me judge, I liked each story for seperate reasons, but I'm definitly don't have a right to judge other peoples' writing when my is the furthest thing from perfect, and her imput really helped. That being said, please don't be upset if you don't agree with what order I put people in, yes, I have no experience, I'm not an editor or published author, and I have my own opinions on what makes up a great piece of literature.
Okay, well here's what I came up with:
1st: PeaceLoveLingleton's Peter Pan.
I really like how only the basic plot and cast of characters was used with references and facts from the story was thrown in. It was also the definition of short and sweet.
2nd: Susan Vallente's Snow White
The modern twist was very imaginitive and even had me smiling. The magic mirror being the internet? Genius.
3rd: Katherine Coiter's version of Cinderella
It was a really cute romance with another creative urban setting. How her stepmom was going to steal her writing? Ithink that can make all of us sympathize, wouldn't it get to us if someone tried to take credit for our work? I really felt with Cindy there.
Thank you all for entering! I'll get to the prizes ASAP though I think Susan's sort of losing out since I'm already a fan, sorry! :)
