This is the beginning of my new(and first) series, Aipotu. It's about five scavengers, Nathan(Main character), Rose(The lone girl, and Nathan's love interest), Kenneth(The "Leader" of the group), Shaun(The badass dude) and Ryan(The less experienced than the others).

The story takes place on earth, in another dimension. One hundred years after World War III. Much was lost, but people slowly began to rise again. New cities were build, new rules were followed. But something evil was present in the war, and it has left it's mark on people and on most animals. People and animals began to mutate into horrible creatures and they were named "Nightmares". There is still many humans, but almost just as many Nightmares. Here, only the strongest ones rules and the weaker will follow orders, or be killed by the hands of someone else. Earth was no longer, people now began to call it Aipotu, but there is still hope, hope for an Utopia.

Chapter 1: The Road
Kenneth was driving the car, as always. Ryan sat in the front passenger seat, staring out of the window and holding his ak47 tightly. Rose sat next to me, she was sleeping while resting her head on my shoulder. We were sitting in the back of the car, together with Shaun, he was sleeping as well. I concentrated on the road. “Man, when do we arrive? We have been driving forever now.” Ryan said. Ryan had problems with travelling, mainly because he was afraid of an ambush. I couldn’t blame him. “Listen; there is a long way to Erston, and—Argh, fuck.” Kenneth said, I didn’t know why he interrupted himself like that, so I asked. “We are out of gas; we need to find a station.” Then Kenneth rolled down the window and took a look at the long and snow covered road. “Well aren’t we lucky, there is one right there!” and he smiled at his “inhuman” luck, as he called it. We arrived at the station, it was cold and there was some dead guy inside. “Urgh, it smells like dead people in here.” Ryan said. “No shit, Sherlock.” Kenneth responded. A short moment of time passed by, no one found anything useful, besides some magazines we could read. “Hey, I found some gas over here, guys!” Rose yelled, she woke up when I moved and refused to go back to sleep. Shaun was still sleeping out in the car, since nobody wanted to wait for him to be done scavenging. “Let’s get moving, I feel like the guy’s killer is coming back soon.” And Kenneth was right; I had felt some kind of presence. Did I mention; the dead guy wasn’t just killed, he was torn apart, and the station was a mess, there was things lying everywhere, the walls had blood over it and there was a huge hole where the door was supposed to be. “Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s move.” Kenneth was beginning to sound scared. We began moving out as soon as we got all the gas we needed. Suddenly, we heard a growl.
Chapter 2: The Beast
I jumped out of the way when a thrown barrel flew through the air with such force it almost went through the wall it hit. Nobody said anything, no screams were screamed and no one cursed of the monster’s arrival. Only the sweet sound of our guns and the bullets that sliced through the air like a knife that sliced butter, sounds like music to my ears. After we shot at the hole that the monster hid in, someone finally said something and that was Rose. “A Wamong?” she asked. “No. Worse.” I responded, and slowly walked towards the hole. I looked down in it, only to see darkness that swallowed the snow that came from the “door”. “Seems like its dead or gone.” I said, but only to find out I was wrong. A furry paw came from the hole and knocked me off my feet. There it was; the beast. Once a harmless bear. Now a huge monster, that didn’t remind much of its older self. Extended teeth and claws, bigger body structure, and worst of all; a huge thirst and hunger for everything it sees. Everything seemed to move so slowly. The beast jumped out of the hole, and was almost over me. I could smell its breath, the ugly smell of flesh; human flesh. It seemed so unreal, just as unreal when I saw Shaun come.

Chapter 3: Let there be Justice
He was fast, as everything else was in slow motion; he was the only thing that moved at a normal speed, which was very fast. He held his own and personal shotgun, Justice. Here justice was going taking action. As Shaun pointed Justice at the beast, I could hear him talk to it. “As you have taken the life of another, Justice will take yours.” A sentence I have heard so many times. The blow from Justice was loud. It was so powerful it left a big hole in the beast’s head. One shot. It only took one shot to bring down the beast that nearly took a whole magazine from each of us others. “Well, just in time. You couldn’t just come before and then we others didn’t have to waste bullets?” Ryan was standing behind Shaun, who was looking down at his defeated foe. Shaun chuckled and jokingly responded. “I was just seeing if you could bring it down yourselves. You can’t just rely on me all the time, ay?” Rose was helping me up and as always made fun of me whenever I get knocked down. “You are such an amateur. Why do I even bother staying with you?” she said and laughed, but before I was hurt by her saying about our relationship, she kissed me gently on the cheek. I almost got lost in her beautiful, but strong eyes. “Hey Shaun?” I was trying to get his attention. “Yeah?” and I got it. “Thank you.” I said, and I was responded by a smile.
Chapter 4: Back on the road
We quickly filled the car with gas, and moved on. Shaun as always, fell asleep only after five minutes in the car. We all sat where we usually did, and Rose was resting her head on my shoulder, as she held my hand while she sang. No one interrupted her, since she had a beautiful voice. Her singing actually made everyone relax; I almost forgot that I was close to death. Ryan stopped to stare out of the window with a worried look in his eyes; he was looking out of it to enjoy the beautiful snow and horizon. Kenneth seemed to enjoy the driving now; right before, he was complaining about how lazy everyone is and that he always has to drive. Shaun, well, he just slept peacefully as always. I enjoyed my company with Rose. I wished that the car never ran out of gas. That we could always just enjoy the moment with each other. But I knew that time would never come. In this world we live in, everyday was a fight. But everything has something positive about itself. I might had to fight for my life every day, but I fought for my friends, and every day was a challenge, a challenge I would go through with them who stand by my side.
Chapter 5: Arrival
Erston was a nice place, been there before, but only once. It had huge buildings. There lived many people there. It also had one of the most known markets. In our hometown, Ben told us that raiders build a camp close to the city and that we might be able to handle them, for payment of course. Mercenaries, that’s what we are. We are also a kind of bounty hunters, only if there is a good reason for the wanted person. We were close, not because I saw the buildings. But because I heard the constant screaming for help and the gunshots.
