I turn the corner

My own shadow is chasing me

When he catches me

He just grins

And puts me to sleep

I turn my back to the crowd

The faces I once knew

See right through me

My mask begins to crack

The pieces flaking onto the floor

They keep peering under the door

I hear a whisper inside me

Telling me

Who I should be

It engulfs me

I exit my body

As it consumes the old me

The dead flesh

Being torn to pieces

I watch in horror

Turning my back to the truth

My life has been turned inside out

It finishes with me

Tosses me aside

Then slithers back into the others

To find its next victim
