She stands alone her room
staring outher window into the abyss.
Music blasting so no one can hear her cries.
Her tears have long since dried,
her voice hoarse from her sobbing.
The remains of her makeup stain her face,
but she does not bother to wipe it off.
Her thoughts are elsewhere
too consumed with grief and sorrow to worry.

The door behind her opens,
she can hear his footsteps behind her.
His scent enveloping her just like it always had.
Arms sliding around her waist,
conforting her in her time of need.
Tears begin to pour from her red and swollen eyes,
just as the helpless cries
begin to make their way up her raw throat.

She looks at his picture
imagining days when he was all she ever needed.
She turns to the empty room,
occupied only by her and the ghosts of their past.
She returns to her window,
contiplating a life spent without love.
