How Many Times

Stupid Dad. Stupid Jake.

I sat there brooding over the guys’ stupidity. I’m old enough to do what I want!

The men of the house decided to go out hunting. I was told to stay home with the rest of the women. I wanted to go out to a movie with my Jacob. Mom agreed with me. None of them are really that much older than me. Then when Jake said he wanted to go with my dad I said okay but I’m still going to the movie.

Dad and Jake both growled and said I wasn’t going anywhere without at least one of them. I protested and looked to my aunt Rosalie for help. She grimaced and shook her head. I looked at Aunt Alice, and I got the same reaction. Finally, I turned to my mother, my savior, my protector.

I expected her to agree with me and let me go. Instead I got a stern look. “Listen to your father dear.”

I touched my mother’s face. I sent her pictures of me crying, screaming, throwing a fit. My mother understood what the translation for that was: “either I get my way, or you’ll see one hell of a fit.”

“Throw that fit all you want Renesmee, it won’t get you anywhere.”

Just as I was about to make good on my threat Aunt Alice spoke up, “You’re mother is telling the truth.”

I ran to my room with the speed only a vampire can have, and I slammed my door. I broke it…again. I have to stop doing that.

I watched out the window as my so called boyfriend left with my dad and my uncles. I couldn’t keep myself from laughing when Uncle Emmett tried to throw a playful punch at my Jacob and my Jacob took off running so that Uncle Emmett would have fallen if he didn’t have the enhanced reflexes of a vamp.

I had an idea, but I knew I’d have to work fast if I didn’t want Aunt Alice to-

“You’re too slow Renesmee.”

Darn it. Well if I was honest with myself I kind of already knew she was going to catch me. I hate it when she does that.

“Oh don’t worry I’m not going to rat you out. Have fun. I’ll stay up here and pretend like I’m just talking to you. Just guard your thoughts around your father when he gets home okay?”

“Okay. What do you want?”

“A shopping trip. You need new clothes.”

I groaned. I hate going shopping with my aunt. She hates my style of clothing, so she thinks she has to try to fix it.

“Deal.”

“Good see you when you get home.”

I hopped out the window and ran. I love the feeling of the wind going through my hair. When I finally got to the movie theater I looked into the eyes of the boy behind the counter and smiled.

“May I have one ticket to ‘Blood Sucker’ please?”

“Do you have an ID to prove you’re 18?”

“No.”

“Then I’m sorry but no. It’s rated R so you need a parent.”

I batted my eyes. Surely he’s not that old right? I pretended to drop my lip gloss so I bent over to pick it up. Then I looked back at him.

“It’s not my fault my parents are dead okay? Why does everybody always have to throw that in my face?” I started the tears. I was telling myself it wasn’t a lie. They were both dead. Though, I felt like mom’s was my fault. Though she did choose it long before I became.

“I’m sorry, but the answer is final.”

“Fine!” I snapped. I walked away towards the woods forcing myself to keep a human pace till I was out of sight.

I sat down on the other side of the tree line and thought. Well, obviously pity won’t work, and he didn’t go for the whole bending over thing maybe if I try a little more direct approach.

So I took of my sweater to reveal a low cut shirt that revealed a fair amount of cleavage. I put some lip gloss on and made my hair go a little over my eyes the way I like, then I made my way back over to the ticket booth.

“Hey, I’m sorry about before. I know kids must get on your nerves always trying to get into movies they can’t.”

“Yeah, it’s okay though.”

I bent forward so my breasts were even more visible. “Can I take you home after work? I’d love to stop and get some burgers and milkshakes with someone, but I don’t have anyone to do it with. I’ll pay for it and everything!”

“Sorry I don’t take bribes, and I’m taken.”

“Well, it’s not a bribe, and it’s not a date.”

“Sure if you want, this is the last set of movies and then I can go.”

“Oh, but if it takes that long, what am I going to do while you finish your shift?” I tried to be a sweet and genuine as I could.

“Well you could watch a movie.”

“Okay, one for ‘Blood Sucker’ then.”

“Nice try kid.”

“THAT’S IT! I’m tired of being polite! I just want to watch a movie. I’m tired of men telling me what I can and can’t do. Dad tells me I can’t go out on my own. Uncle Jasper says do what I’m told. Uncle Emmett says listen to your father. Grandpa says it’s all for my protection. My Jacob says he don’t want me anywhere where he’s not because it’s dangerous!” I could feel my face turning red. “Now you listen to me, I’m getting into that movie whether you like it or not. I’m going to watch it. I’m going to eat popcorn, drink soda, and WATCH VAMPIRES THAT ARE NOT ANYTHING LIKE WHAT REAL VAMPIRES WOULD BE LIKE I ASSURE YOU!!! NOW LET ME IN!!!”

“SECURITY, sorry tootsie pop, I don’t take orders from little girls.”

Two large men came up and asked me to leave, when I refused they grabbed me by my arms and carried me. I could have fought, and I could have won, but I didn’t want to risk exposure.

As they pulled me away I looked back and seen the ticket boy kissing a really hot guy that had just walked up to him. DAMN IT.
