twas a winter night, a night that you would think was alike any other, the cool winter air knipping at door steps, and creeping in windows. Children asleep awaiting the next days festivities, while their parents snuggled by fires, reminecing about days of youth. Thisis how it would seem, yet this is untrue. Tonight is the night that S.D. Clause made his way through the streets. To some this name brings joy and laughter, to those who know, only fear and despair.

I knew this night would come, a night I have been not dreading, but joyously awaiting with anticipation and glee. The night i would stop, ol' Suddle D. I knew it was time, I grabbed my bow, my knives, a potion or two, ready for the time to bring peace to this once jolly night. Much to my surprise I heard a voice outside, a bold voice indeed. I stepped to my window and listened most curiously.

"Everyone who would hear me, I emplore you please listen, no longer will we live in fear, we are Condemned, we can not tolerate it, in the least." the man shouted, as people peeked through their curtains, and few creeping out their doors.
"My name is Louden, I wish to end this scourge upon our land, and bring back a time where we did not live in fear" he continued.
I decided to listen, it appeared I was not alone this night, someone else had thought the same thing as I. Upon opening my door I saw standing there a great man, with two men at his side, strong and corageous they surely did look, and a woman to, with beauty, and a kindness to her eyes.

"With me stand my fellow men at arms-" he was interupted

"And lady," The girl spoke up

"Of course, and lady, With me I have Pawse, a man who can see the worth in almost anyone. Krazer, a tactionary genious, and Kamie, a woman with the dedication and determination of a lion." Louden exclaimed boldly. "Join us, and together we shall set free this land of the terror, that is Suddle D. Clause."

I felt an overwhelming joy and excitement throughout me. It was finnaly my time to prove I was worth my salt, I grabbed my things and burst out the door, quickly making my way to the group willing to stand and fight. However as I got close Louden's eyes shifted to me, a look of uncertainty filled his face. I felt my heart sink lower the longer he looked. What was he thinking? Does he believe me unworthy of the challenge ahead? That's when he again began to speak.

"You there, you appear eager, and willing, but I have my doubts. Your are small, and look as though you lack the experience to join this fight, and I will not have a death on my hands that is not warranted" He explained.

My heart dropped into my stomach, I began to feel a distain I've felt before, the feeling of rejection is an all to familiar experience to me, but somehow this time it was different, it shook me to my core. I looked up at him, trying to find the words to say, unable to find them I could only look the fool. That's when the man known as pawse began to speak.

"Let the boy speak on his behalf, I believe there is more to him then a simple glance can fortell." Pawse spoke with a tone most certain.

"Very well, speak boy, what is your name? Why do you believe you are ready for this task? Do you not understand it is dangerous?" louden asked inquisitively.
I musted everything I had, taking a few breaths, this was my time to prove my worth.

"Louden, Sir, In the past I have been a slacker, this is true, I have let many people down-" I spoke in a certain, but shaky tone. "I Know I am not the strongest, or the wisest, However I wish to protect the people here, those who can not help themselves. Those who live in fear and feel no joy, for them, I would raise my bow, and offer my life if needed, to keep them safe"
They began talking amongst themselves for a few moments, my breath shallow, awaiting a responce, one that could change not only my life, but those of who I know and care for so dearly. Before long they averted their gaze back upon me. A stern look upon their faces.

"I do not believe you have the experience needed for this endeavor," pawse said with a truly thoughtful voice, "However, I believe you have heart, and you know what it's like to be part of a community, to share their fears and pains, and a desire to protect what you care for, you may join us in our endeavor"

Joy overwhelmed me once more, I was finnaly being given the chance I so desperately needed,I could do nothing but stand there in awe, not a word could come to my mouth, all I could do is nod and give a slight bow. They then began speaking to the crowd, seeing who else among us would join in the fight. Many stepped up, people I had known in the for some time, They began to introduce themselves, Dridden was the first, followed by Widsom, Trae, Mojo, Enzo, and even two ladies, Atuari, and strabery. The night was no longer filled with feeling of fear, for these brave souls would end this blight upon our lands.

We migrated to the local tavern, going over strategies, what if's, and contingency plans. Louden along with krazer would be giving the orders in the front, and Pawse to those of us in the back. We readied are weapons, sure that the night would be ours, for in mere hours, a battle was upon us.

We waited for what seemed like days, readying into our positions, listening for the slightest change in the enviroment, yet everything was calm. My nerves uneasy, perhaps I wasn't ready for this, maybe it isn't my time. Just then the night became still, not a sound to be heard, Louden and pawse looked back to us, giving us a nod, letting us know, the time has come. Through the forest we peered, not seeing anything at first. However before long an eary fog began to fill the air, along with an ominous feeling sinking in our hearts.

From the woods bursted the enemy aplenty. four legged beasts most foul, with horns on their heads, jagged and long. Their eyes glowing red, and a low growl most unsettling. Not a word could be heard from any of the commanding officers, they were staring intently at our foes, determined, waiting. I readied my bow, nocking my arrow, getting ready to fire. It didn't take long as our foes began to run towards us full force, louden, pawse, krazer, and kamie still poised without doubt..waiting...waiting...
"Archers Fire!" Pawse shouted furiously

Startled I raised my bow and let loose my first shot, far over shooting my target. I nocked another arrow, fired, again I over-shoot. Pawse looked back at me and nodded, before nocking his own arrow and firing it straight through the heart of one of the beasts. This was the time KJ, now is the time. My hands steadied, my heart no longer racing, i pulled an arrow from my quiver, and nocked it most gently, I took a deep breath, aimed, and fired. The arrow flew true, straight through the heart of one of my foes, I watched as it fell to the ground, no longer a threat. I continued my assault along with my fellow compatriots.

Louden then shouted the call of advance, Krazer, louden, mojo, lead the charge, slashing down foes in their path, nothing seemed to be able to stand through their strikes, nothing but death in their wake. Kamie and Strabery furiously casting spells of firce and ice, gracious,  yet wild at the same time, truly a sight to behold.

Before long no beasts stood before us, the battlefield sullied with blood and carnage. The night however would not prove over, for a loud, ear shattering roar broke through the silence of the well fought aftermath, dropping everyone, including myself to our knees. From the trees emerged a man most nottable in stature. A fierce warrior presence about him. Without hesitation Louden and Krazer burst from their knees and charged at the man swinging furiously at him. However the man's swordsmanship was not to be scoffed at, he parried and struck back with a technique to be awed.
Pawse' voice broke through the clatter of metal, ordering us to fire. I let loose an arrow, this arrow flying true, straight into the back of my foe it would land, however at the last second the man turned and swatted it away as if it were a fly. The battle continued, no side making any ground, can we truly win this battle? Was this all in vein?

We fought for what seemed like hours, archers out of arrows, mages out of mana, and bruisers with broken weapons. Have we truly lost? What would become of us and our land. The battlefield calmed, everyone tired including our foe. For what seemed like ages we panted and stared at one another. Before long our enemy spoke.

"My name is Suddle D. It has been a long time since anyone has truly tested my mettle, however I just wish to know why you wish to fight me?" Suddle D spoke graciously.

Louden began to speak "You have been a scurge upon these lands, scaring these people and hurting the innocent! We must stop you here and now so that you may never cause trouble again."

Suddle D was silent for a brief moment, thinking of what has been said, he began to speak again "Brave Sir, I know of what you speak however believe me you have it wrong"

Everyone puzzled, and shocked of what Suddle has just said, uncertain of his meaning. We stared at him, waiting to hear more.

Suddle D "I have tracked down these beasts you have just slain for years and years, trying to do what you have, for they have been corrupted, not allowing me to bring joy and cheer to the children of this world, my only wish is to make people happy, no more, no less."

We were stunned, shocked, unsure of how to react, and yet, a strange calm came over me, and everyone else seemed to feel the same way. It was strange, someone we had once feared, we no longer felt the need to hate. Unsure why, I decided to ask him something for myself.

"sir, Suddle D, then why is it we are to believe you were the danger? Why are you the one we have feared?"

He let out a giggle, then began to speak "I was once a bringer of joy, Until I visted the land of Rift, their my once calm companions became corrupted, fearsome beasts, For stopping them I must thank you all, I can now continue with my calling, and bring joy to those, who have none"

As if like magic, he reached into the snow, pulling a large bag from the ground. He opened his bag and began pulling out toys for all ages, along with food for a feast. Children burst from their houses meeting us at the town center, as Suddle passed out his boon to all who would have them. A grand feast was held, in honor of the night, for no one would have to live in fear, because of the courage of a few proud men and woman who dared to stand against true evil. Christmas was saved.

As the children fell asleep, and their parents cuddled by fires, I reflected upon the battle, and the brave souls I have met, the lessons I learned, that strength comes in all shapes and sizes, and judging someone based on what you have heard can often lead to large mistakes. We few souls met again in the tavern, their was much to discuss, for the land of Rift was still out there, and we knew, it was our job to stop it.
