It was a hot afternoon in Philadelphia, Anthony began get ready for work. He worked at a fast food restaurant and has a second job delivering papers, since his mother lost her job two months ago and struggled. His father is no where to be found, so he decided to take on the man-of-the-house role. Anthony has to make a living by working two jobs, since they are behind on rent. Anthony began to focus as he look in the mirror, fixing his clothes.
"Tony," Anthony's mom said. "After work, can you bring me back something to eat?"
"I'll cook dinner tonight, before i head to my next job," Anthony said.
"Well hurry home soon, Tony," Anthony's mom said. "I just dont know what i would do with out you Tony. Your heart is so pure. I know that you would make a good husband for a woman someday."
"But right now iam not thinking about that right now," Anthony said. "My priority is to take care of you ma. A woman aint going anywhere, i have a lot of time."
"I know," Anthony's mom began. "But you aint getting any younger, so think about that."
"I will ma," Anthony said. "Gotta go, i cant be late."
"Have a good day at work, Tony," Anthony's mom said.
Anthony kissed his mom on the cheek and headed out the door.

Chapter two

Anthony arrived to his fast food restaurant job called Gerold's. A burger joint where you can relax, hangout and enjoy the delicious burgers and other food items. This business has ran for years and doesnt show any signs of slowing down.
Anthony walked in the door and walked straight to the cash register and clocked in. As he walked in towards the kitchen, a customer walked in and approached the front counter.
"I'll have a Gerold the great burger meal," he said.
"What size drink," the cashier asked.
"Large size," the customer replied.
"Anything else for you today, sir," the cashier asked.
"No, thats all," the customer replied with a smile.
"Ok, its going to be three-thirty please, the cashier said.
The customer pulled out his wallet and grabbed a twenty dollar bill. The cashier took the bill and opened the cash register and gave the customer the exact change.
Anthony in the kitchen, making the orders as the customers rolled in with empty stomachs, ready to chow down. As the business continue to roam in customers, Anthony began picking up the pace of sandwich making and also cooking the food. It was stressful to Anthony, but he didn't care. All he cared about is making money to help out his mom and make sure they have a roof over their heads. As the business began to slow down, Anthony cleaned around the kitchen area and went outside for a smoke break. As he walked outside, a young caramel-like skin color girl began walking out of the restaurant after Anthony. It was Marressya, Anthony's best friend who he knew since he was seven.
"Hey Tony," Marressya began. "How's it going?"
"Same as usual," Anthony replied. "Trying to stay on top despite all the struggles we going through today."
"Yea i know its hard these days," Marressya said. "But you are in a good job that pays good."
"But it ain't enough," Anthony began. "I need to get another job, so i can pay the bills in our apartment. This job is only getting me by with the rent, but i need to pay the light bill and all other utilities."
"Well," Marressya began. "If you need my help, i have no problem."
"Thank you," Anthony said. "But you don't have to go out of your way."
"Don't worry about it," Marressya began. "No matter what, we are best friends and any time you need me, iam going to be there for you."
"Thank you," Anthony said. "That meant a lot to me."
Anthony smiled and inhaled his cigarette, looking out to the horizon.
"Hey Tony," Marressya began. "Are you doing something later on tonight?"
"Well," Anthony responded. "Iam not sure yet. I know that i gotta' head to the store for my mom after work."
"Well i was just wondering if you like to come to my birthday party tonight," Marressya asked.
"Well," Anthony began. "Let me see what my mom needs and i can give you a call. It sure sounds like fun to go. But I dont know, i need to make sure my mother is right first.
"You can do that," Marressya suggested. "I know its hard and all, since your father..."
"Please don't say it," Anthony interrupted. "That man left me and my mom to struggle like iam right now. its not fair! while he off enjoyin' his single life, he forgot about our lives. So i don't wanna' hear about that man, since he aint a factor no more."
Anthony inhaled the last of the cigarette and flicked it in a bucket. He looked at his watch and noticed it was time to go back in.
"Tony, wait," Marressya shouted out. "Wait Tony, i wanna come in too. Just let me finish my cigarette. I still wanna' talk to you."
"Well," Anthony responded. "I have no problem chatting with you, as long as we don't mentioned that sorry excuse for a father."
Marressya flicked her cigarette butt into the bucket and walked inside with Anthony.

Chapter 3

The sun began to set, showing a beautiful glow in the sky. Anthony was at home preparing dinner for his mother.
"Ma, the food is almost done," he said. "Give it about ten minutes and it will be ready."
Anthony proceeded towards the finishing touches of his moms dinner. Anthony enjoyed cooking for his mother. His mother had two jobs in her time and found ways to keep up with paying bills on time and take care of her son Anthony. But now she cant provide it. She lost both of her jobs due to an accident on one of her jobs, in which was a toad truck crash. Both Anthony's mom and another worker involved in the accident, is unable to walk due to her spinal cord was broken in three different places. Anthony's mom is waiting for her unemployment check to come, so Anthony took over paying bills and paying rent. Even though, Anthony's job at Gerold's, he has to apply for the another job to keep the utilities up and also food on the table.
"Is it ready yet," Anthony's mom shouted from the living room.
Anthony placed his mothers food on the plate and began walking to the living room.
"Here you go ma," Anthony said as he entered into the living room and placed the plate in front this mother. Anthony's mom began to pick up her fork, pick up the spaghetti and placed it in her mouth. Then suddenly, Anthony's cellphone began to ring. Anthony reached into his pocket and answered.
"Hello," he said.
"Hey Tony," Marressya's voice called out from the other end. "I was calling you to see if you still wanna come to my birthday party?"
"Well," Anthony began. "I just got to make sure my mother is alright."
"Well, when you finish, can you come tonight," Marressya asked. "I would really want you to come. You can be my birthday gift from you."
"Okay," Anthony said. "Let me check and see if my mother needs anything else, then i'll try to make it okay?"
"Please do," Marressya said. "I want you to come over tonight."
"Okay," Anthony said. "I'll talk to you later."
"Ok," Marressya responded. "Bye!"
Anthony pressed the end button on his phone and placed it in his pocket.
"You need to go to that party, Lil' Tone," Anthony's mother said.
"Well, I have to make sure that you got everything," Anthony said. "You know i gotta take care of you."
"I just cant use my legs," Anthony's mom said. "I'll be fine. What would make me even more happy is if my hard working son is at his friends birthday party that you knew for a long time. Why not go have fun. Your twenty-four now, a grown man. You still can make choices on your own."
"Yeah," Anthony responded. "But what about when you have use the bathroom. Your can gets filled up?"
"Don't worry," Anthony's mom said. "I actually have a nurse coming in about five minutes."
"When didju get a nurse," Anthony asked.
"This morning when you went off to work," Anthony's mom replied. "I decided this so you wont have a great responsibility at such of a young age. You need to go out and venture off. Yea, you can work to provide for the home, but let this nurse take care of me."
"I dont know ma," Anthony said.
"Tone," Anthony's mom began. "I want grand baby's! Your young, dumb and full of energy, use that to bring me some grand babies."
Anthony sat back for a minute. He didn't know how his mother cared of him exploring out in the world. He looked away, thinking about what his mom said. He never thought about having kids. He figured that helping his mother is the only thing he would do. Then suddenly, he turned back to his mother.
"I don't know if i'am ready to have kids yet," Anthony began. "But where can i start this venture off?
"Start off by going to this party your invited to," Anthony's mom replied. "Marressya right? You knew her for a long time, you don't have ant feeling s for her?"
"I mean," Anthony began. "I remember when she had a little crush on me, but i thought she was only joking. And then when we were neighbors as teens, I remember times she was extra nice to me on my birthday. But I never would ever thought having kids with her. Wouldn't feel weird?"
"She's your best friend," Anthony's mom said. "I know you had those urges when you around her. As a matter of fact, i remembered when you first met her. You was always giving her hugs. And not to mentioned how i found you both in the closet together."
"Ma, i was seven," Anthony said. "I didn't no any better."
"And how do i know you didn't lose your virginity that closet," Anthony's mom asked.
"We were just in there talking," Anthony responded.
"I cant tell," Anthony's mom said. "Ok, stick to your 'just talking' story, but i know the real deal. You keep denying it, but i think Marressya is the one to have my grand babies. So make those grand babies with her for me."
"Why do you want me to give you grand babies this early," Anthony asked. "I remember when i was ten, you screamed out that if you catch me bringing a baby in this house, you were gonna' knock the block off of me, since you too young to be a grandmother. You said that every day. As a matter fact, you checked me every time i come from outside."
"Times are changing," Anthony's mom said. "Your an adult now. Make me a grand baby or two or three or a whole basketball team."
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Anthony walked to the door and opened it. As the door swings open, a young Caucasian nurse appeared. Her uniform was pink with tight pants that made her booty stick out. Her shirt was nicely snugged on her, showing her curves and has glasses on her face to top off her whole appearance.
"How are you doing tonight," the nurse began. "Is your name Anthony?"
"Yes," Anthony replied. "You must be my mother's nurse, please come on in."
The nurse entered in the apartment. The nurse walked over to Anthony's mom and began checking up on her.
"Your nurse is very beautiful," Anthony said.
"Well, if you and Marressya don't work out," Anthony's mom began. "I'll hook you up with her."
Anthony's mother smiled followed with a chuckle.
"Since you don't need me ma, i guess i'll head to Marressya's party," Anthony said.
"And dont come back until you bring me some grand babies," Anthony's mom joked.
"I just might bring Marressya back home so i can bang her on the couch," Anthony joked back.
"No, take her in your room," Anthony's mom said. "Make my new daughter-in-law comfortable."
"Okay mom, i'll come back at twelve," Anthony said.
"If you coming that early," Anthony's mom began. "Marressya better be behind you, ready to make me that grand child."
Anthony smiled followed by a chuckle. He turned towards the door and walk through it, exiting the apartment.

Chapter 4

As the sun sets, creating a beautiful color tone indigo-like sky, Anthony arrived to the bowling ally, where Marressya was hosting her birthday party. All of Marressya's friends, members of the cheer squad and family members came in to celebrate this magical event.
Anthony entered through the door, as the crowd sang 'Happy Birthday' to Marressya. Marressya smiled and began to blow out the cake as the song came to an end. The crowd cheered as Marressya blew all the candles out. Marressya looked in the crowd and noticed Anthony's presence in the room.
"Tony," she shouted out walking towards Anthony. "Iam so happy that you arrived. Would you like some cake?"
"Sure," Anthony replied. "Thank you very much."
Marressya grabbed the knife and began cutting a slice for Anthony. Suddenly, she began to have this positive vibe-flow. It was streaming up and down her body, as she turned over and presented the cake to Anthony.
"Here you go Anthony," Marressya said, in a sweet-talk voice.
"Thank you, Marressya," Anthony replied, as he received the cake.
Anthony grabbed the fork and began taking pieces of the cake.
"Hows the cake," Marressya asked.
"It's delicious," Anthony replied.
"My grandmother owns the shop this cake was from," Marressya said.
"I always love going to your grandmother's bakery shop," Anthony said with a smile.
"Do you remember when we were eleven," Marressya began. "And when we walked to grandma's bakery and we sat there eating cake and you told me your favorite cake."
"Is this the cake iam eating now," Anthony asked.
"Yes," Marressya replied. “I figured that because I wanted to share my birthday with my best friend.”
“So that's what you meant by when you called me your birthday gift,” Anthony remembered. “This is so sweet on what your doing.”
“So, what do you wanna' do first,” Marressya asked.
“How about, lets bowl,” Anthony replied.
Anthony and Marressya approached to the front desk and requested a lane. They picked their shoes out and went on towards their appointed lane. Marressya walked over to the computer and began placing the names. She put 'Tony' and 'Marice'.
“Marice,” Anthony said.
“Yeah,” Marressya replied. “My name is long.”
“But Marice sounds like a man and you are a beautiful lady,” Anthony said. “Like a beautiful flower or as a dove.”
“Do you have a better nick name for me Tony,” Marressya asked.
Anthony began to think for a minute. He knew that it is her birthday and he felt as if giving her a nick name for her birthday, it shows how close they are. Anthony looked at Marressya and knew a name that came in his mind with a blink of an eye.
“Lisa Maria,” Anthony said. “A name that rhymes with your name and something that shows the true inner self.”
“Oh yeah, Tony,” Marressya began. “And what's that?”
“You are beautiful, intelligent and positive-vibe woman I have ever seen,” Anthony said. “And you are the best friend iam happy to have. You stood by me even in the worst times. Iam glad...no...grateful to have someone like you. Thank you!”
Marressya began smiling from ear to ear. She never herd anything like that before. Her heart grew warm as she switched her name on the score board to 'Lisa Maria'. Marressya entered the names and began the game.

Chapter 5

It was the next morning, Anthony began stretching out of bed. He continues to yawn as each step he took getting out of bed gave him a burst of energy. He began placing his adidas slippers on and rose off from the bed. Anthony walked to his mirror, sitting on his dresser drawer and began wipping his face with a wet rag. As Anthony began walking out of his bedroom, continuing to yawn. Then suddenly, Anthony began walking towards the front door, when his mom called out.
"Anthony," she called out. "Come here for a minute!"
"Mom," Anthony replied. "Iam going to go get the mail, I'll be right back!"
"No need to," Anthony's mom called back. "My nurse got me the mail already and besides, i need to talk to you about something important."
Anthony closed the door and began to approach the living room, where his mother is sitting down, with some lemon sweet tea and watching soap opera's. Anthony entered in the living room.
"Have a seat," Anthony's mom said, as Anthony did as instructed. "Since my nurse is right now out on my errands, its going to be a good time for me and you to talk."
"About what," Anthony asked, curiously.
"You," Anthony's mom replied. "You got to live your own life. I know you want to take care of me and where we live, but i cant allow you to have that such of a burden on you. I want you to get married, start a family of your own. Make me some grand babies i can be proud of."
"But ma," Anthony began. "I am looking for a second job so i can keep up with this house."
Anthony's mom turned away from Anthony to sip her tea. The aroma smell of lemon and honey in the tea. Then suddenly, Anthony's mom turned back to Anthony.
"Listen," she began. "You are old enough to explore this world on your own my Lil' Tone. You need to experience in living a true life."
"But i live it with you," Anthony said. "You lost your job and the S.S.I people hasn't called back yet."
"Whatchu' mean," Anthony's mother said. "Why you think i got a nurse?! The S.S.I people called me and explain to me about everything and that my nurse is also a parting gift to go along with my twelve-hundred dollars every month."
"So it went through," Anthony asked.
Anthony's mom nodded her head.
"So what should i do," Anthony asked out loud.
"How about join partnership with the dad," Anthony's mom suggested.
"Whatchu mean work with him," Anthony shouted. "He barely brought nothing in here and think iam going to just roll over and work with him!"
"Well," Anthony's mom began. "He's placing his business as yours in his will."
"What are you talking about," Anthony asked. "That man is a sorry-excuse man for walking out on us ma! What do i look like going to a run shack-type business."
"Your dad own six different top paid hotel suites and he's placing it all in your name."
Anthony sat back for a minute and began thinking for a minute. His father left his mother when he was four and watched his mother breaking her back to make sure the next meal is on the table. Then he also thought about what his mother said. Then he turned back to his mother.
"I don't know about this," he said, shaking his head. "This man has left us high and dry and to make you work three jobs, while taking care of me ma! I remember one night you took me on your delivery run in your big truck."
"Yea," Anthony's mother said, with a chuckle. "I remember how inquisitive you were back then and i know you the same way right now! So i want you to go live with your father and experience in what being a man is. I cant teach you how to be a man..."
"But you did, ma," Anthony interrupted. "Me taking responsibilities in this house. You taught me that ma, not him."
"I ain't saying what you've done didn't count," Anthony's mother began. "And I mean this from the bottom of my heart. Your ability of paying rent on time, searching for another job to keep utilities on, they were opportunities to see if you were ready to face the real world."
Anthony's mom passed Anthony an envelope that was already slit open. Anthony grabbed it and began staring at the information on the front of the envelope.
"Go and find you a nice girl," she continued. "And if none is a good match for you, go on to your best friend and make me some grand babies."
"Ma, we just friends," Anthony said.
"You mean to tell me my son is afraid of his best friends good, goods," Anthony's mom asked. "Cause you cant fool me when i see you next to each other. You two have a great chemistry. Believe me, i always watch ya'll grow up and it never fails, that ya'll hugging up on each other. I still wont forget about that closet incident."
"Ma, I was seven," Anthony said.
"I know," Anthony's mom began. "What Iam saying is, that girl likes you and you like her, even though you in total denial. I saw how gaze at her and she look back at you. You two need to quit it and get it on and make me my grand babies. But on a serious note, you are expected to leave later on today and head to your father's main hotel suite. There, he will instruct you on what your position."
"What if you come with me," Anthony asked.
"Didn't you hear me before," Anthony's mom reminded. "You are going to your father's since i wanna' see you mature into a fine grown, hard working, handsome man."
Anthony looked at his mother and looked back down on the envelope, as he rose up from his seat and began walking to the kitchen.
"Your plate is on the table," Anthony's mom called out. "My nurse made a wonderful breakfast for you!"
Anthony looked back at the living room door,"Tell her thank you," he called back. "This plate looks delicious." Anthony sat down at the table and began eating his breakfast.

Chapter Six

It was later in the afternoon and Anthony began driving in his car. In his mind as he drives, flash backs began to drawn in his mind. Thoughts of his mother waking up to work every day, taking him with her along her runs, and also have Anthony help out with some orders. His childhood began flashing in his mind as he proceed towards the address the hotel resides. Anthony began looking for path to the entrance. As he arrived to in front of the door, a valet approached to the car door and gave Anthony a orange ticket. Anthony stepped out the car and received the ticket. He began approaching to the hotel door and entered. As he walked in, he noticed how beautiful the hotel looked. His eyes were amazed by the designs on the walls. It looked as if the people of royalty deserve to stay here, like a palace. Anthony approached the front counter and the clerk began to speak out.
“Can I help you sir,” the clerk spoke out.
“Yes, Iam looking for my father who owns this place,” Anthony replied.
“Are you here for the banquet tonight,” the clerk asked. “Our event tonight is a very special night. Do you have clothes to change in?”
“No,” Anthony replied. “Iam here to see my father.”
“Who is your father,” the clerk asked.
“Anthony James Tyrone Kings Sr,” Anthony replied. “Iam his son, Anthony James Tyrone Kings Jr.”
The clerk paused for a minute as he looked at the resemblance of the two. He looked at his screen and began to type.
“It looks as we were expecting you, Mr. Anthony,” the clerk said. “There you go, your name is signed in. Let me get your key.”
The clerk turned around and grabbed the key behind him. He turned back and passed Anthony the key. The clerk also reached under neath the desk and pulled out a folded piece of paper.
“Your dad wanted me to give you this,” he said, passing him the paper. Anthony took the note and began unfolding it. Then he began to grabbed the key and proceeded to the elevator door. As he began to push the elevator button, he began to think to himself. Its been years since him and his father spoke. He don’t know what to say or how to act towards him. He proceeded on thinking as the elevator arrived to the floor. The door opened and Anthony proceeded in. As the door closed, he noticed two inside the elevator, a adult male and a child who looks as if he's about ten. As Anthony looked on the father and son, he began reminiscing on his good times with his father when he was young. He continued on to figure out what he wanted to say to his father. Both the strategy plan and his flash backs of his childhood were clashing in his head. As the elevator stopped on the third floor, Anthony snapped out of it. He walked out the elevator and proceeded to his room. Anthony walked up, grabbing his key to look for the room number, in which is room three-zero-six. Anthony approached the room door and began to place the key in. Before he entered, Anthony looked at the paper the clerk gave him and began to open. Inside was a note stating from his father that he has to attend to a party tonight at eight o'clock. Anthony folded the paper and entered the room.

Chapter 7

It was later in the evening, Anthony was sitting in his room, on the bed, looking at the envelope his mother gave him. His mind began to wander on how he will approach him. His thoughts of his father's absence through the years, No call, no show as both Anthony and his mother had struggled and his father never had any sense of effort to come help out. Anthony's flashbacks of when his mother lost her job when she was involved in an accident and when she waited for her S.S.I to come in. The thoughts of struggling day after day to keep a roof over his head and his mother as well. Suddenly, there was a knock on Anthony's door.
“Who is it,” Anthony called out.
“Mr. Kings,” the voice from the other side of the door, replied. “Iam here to deliver this suit to you, sir.”
Anthony approached to the door and opened it. As Anthony swung the door slowly, a tall skinny butler, who was wearing a black and white suit with white gloves showed up with a suit and shoes for Anthony.
“Sir, your father wanted you to wear this at the banquet tonight,” the tall-slinky-butler said, passing the suit with plastic covering over it and the alligator shoes to match. “The banquet will start in twenty minutes. He expects you to be down there by then.”
“Why is he having this banquet,” Anthony asked.
“It's for you, sir,” the butler replied. “He wanted you have a welcome home party for you. Well, I'll see you then.”
The butler walked off and Anthony closed the door. As Anthony walked back to his bed and sat down, he began looking at his suit. He placed the shoes next to his bed and noticed they were Stacy Adams.
“I don’t know if I should go or not,” Anthony began to say to himself. “He was neglectful and now wants me to be something I'am not.”
Anthony began to shake his head as he gazed with disappointment to the suit that was given and shoes. He placed down the suit and began to get undressed and placed the suit on. As he finished lacing up his shoes, Anthony walked to the door and exited out.
In the banquet, legions of guest arrived to this event. Classical music was playing and butlers walked around passing out refreshments to the guest. People came together and began chatting amongst one another and grab their places at the tables. Anthony suddenly arrived to the banquet, looking around the ballroom area. He never seen anything like this before in this type of place. Then Anthony looked over at the musicians playing their instruments. Suddenly, a butler walked over to Anthony.
“Mr Kings,” the butler began. “Allow me to escort you to your table.”
Anthony followed the butler to the front of the ballroom. His seat was in front of every guest who were attended there. Anthony walked over to his seat, and sat down. As Anthony began looking around the room at each guest. Anthony began to feel disgusted as each guest were chatting with each other.
“This is not me,” Anthony said to himself. “I'am no bratty-aristocrat. I learn how to struggle! But if by me having this business will benefit me, maybe I can use this type of power for something else.”
Then suddenly, the crowd of guest began to turn their attention to the left side corner of the room. There entered Antony James Tyrone Kings Sr, the man who created hope for people by giving them jobs that will give them enough to live on their own. Anthony Sr began to walk up to the front of the ballroom to meet up with Anthony.
“Well now,” Anthony Sr began. “My mini-me has all grown up. How are you son? How things with your mother? Do you have a girlfriend? Come on, we got a lot to talk about.”
“No we don’t,” Anthony shouted as he walked away from his father.
The crowd began to stop what they were doing as they watched Anthony storm out of the ballroom, ripping off his shirt and tie. The crowd began turning to each other, chatting amongst themselves, talking about that sudden incident.
“What,” Anthony Sr began. “Was it something I said?!”

Chapter 8

Later on in the hotel lobby, Anthony was sitting at the bar. His mind grew out of control, since his father made it seemed as if nothing happened. That his absence was never a factor and that he was suppose to forget about it and just move on. Anthony began to play around with the beer nuts as his mind continue to wander deep inside his brain. Then suddenly, a bartender walked up to Anthony behind the bar.
“What would it be,” the bartender asked.
“Just give me a triple shot,” Anthony replied.
The bartender began taking out a shot glass and poured a shot of eighteen-hundred tequila from the bottle. After the bartender poured a shot, Anthony knocked it back and signaled the bartender for another. The bartender, as requested, poured another shot. Anthony knocked back the second shot and signaled the bartender again.
“You need to slow down on your drinking, son,” the bartender said. “Drinking fast like that, you will get too drunk to even drive home tonight.”
“I'am not heading home right now,” Anthony said. “So please do me a favor and pour me another shot!”
“Is everything alright,” the bartender asked, pouring another shot.
“Sort of,” Anthony replied, taking the shot glass and knocked it back. “I'am just going through a situation right now.”
“Care to share,” the bartender asked.
“I have this friend,” Anthony began to lie. “He thought that by coming back around, that everything is alright.”
“Have you spoke to your friend on how you feel,” the bartender asked.
“No,” Anthony replied.
“Why not,” the bartender asked.
“I don’t know,” Anthony replied. “I just don’t like the fact that he felt as if that his return will make things alright. But it ain't okay. He was gone for a long time and by him showing up, he figured everything is good now.”
“It sound to me like you aren’t being forgivable,” the bartender said. “You know, you have to forgive a person, despite whatever situation you two are going through. No matter how bad it is, you have to forgive him and give him a chance to start over.”
As Anthony took his next shot, Anthony Sr approached the bar.
“Mr. Kings,” the bartender began. “What would you like today?”
“I'll have what my son is having,” Anthony Sr replied.
“Your son,” the bartender repeated. Then he turned to Anthony. “So this is your best friend you were referring to? You must be Anthony Jr?”
“What are you guys talking about,” Anthony Sr. asked, curiously.
“I will let you guys talk,” the bartender replied as he poured both Anthony and Anthony Sr a shot and walked away.
“What's going on son,” Anthony Sr asked, taking a seat.
“Look dad,” Anthony began. “I felt as if by the way you approached me, you thought the fact you leaving me and mom in the cold, while you live your life was all good. Becoming rich and never helping us out when we needed it.”
“Your mom never told me you both needed help,” Anthony Sr began. “I tried calling you just to speak with you, but your mother always act as if everything was alright. I asked sometimes if you needed my assistance, she would reply that you both are fine and didn't need my help. I tried to tell her I'am going to send you both some money to keep y’all bills in order, but she said she didn't want it. So I figured you both were doing fine.”
“So why do you want me here now,” Anthony asked.
“Because,” Anthony Sr replied. “I have a chronic condition that can shorten my life soon. Well, that's what the doctor said.”
“What chronic condition is that,” Anthony asked.
“I have a form of cancer that doctors say they cant find a way to cure it,” Anthony Sr replied. “The doctor told me that I have three months to live. So I needed someone to carry on my business when I passed away and thought about you.”
“Why is that,” Anthony asked.
“I believe that you can make a change in this company,” Anthony Sr. replied. “I know that you have that ability and I felt as if no one I can trust with this company. Every colleague I associated with were only thinking about money. I agree, but I don’t just want to only think about that. I want to change the world, but since my life is cutting short, I need someone who I can trust can carry on.”
“So is this what this is all about,” Anthony asked. “You trust me with your company? What if I failed?”
“I know that you wont fail,” Anthony Sr replied. “I believe that you can make a difference. A difference for the good of the business. So is that what was bothering you? Was that the reason why you stormed out of the banquet like that? I haven’t seen you in years and I always wanted to know what you been up to. Your mom would never tell me so she just let me think every night on what you were up to.”
“Okay then dad,” Anthony said. “I'am sorry about that. I didn't know since mom never told me that you called or anything like that.”
“So what do you say,” Anthony Sr. began, picking up his shot glass. “How about a toast to a new beginning of the Kings empire.”
Anthony took his shot glass and raised it in the air. Both Anthony and Anthony Sr placed their glasses to their lips and knocked the liquor back.
“So how about it son,” Anthony Sr began. “Tomorrow, lets start fresh. We have a meeting and I want you to come join me. Let you get to know the company and bring your ideas with you.”
“Okay dad,” Anthony said with a smile. “I'll see you tomorrow. Good night!”
Anthony Sr smiled at his son, pat him on his shoulder, rose from the bar stool and walked off.Chapter 8
