What is in a word?

Is it just a collection of letters?

Where is the meaning in a word?

Who gives the word purpose?

How do you escape the power of words?

Are there any victims from words?

A words is a series of letters that when combined, describe something or give something a meaning I am writing this entire poem through a series of meaningless letters but when put together, paint a picture in your head far stronger through any Van Gogh or Picasso ever will The image the words leave far outweigh the complexity than any sculpture by Michelangelo

Words are so much more than a collection of letters for if they weren’t we wouldn’t need them Words are force, they are power. They made the rich, rich and the poor, poor On paper they are a collection of letter but off of it, they put our president in office Our constitution is founded on the idea that words can control who we are as people and because we decided that they were right, we went along with it

The meaning of the word is not found in the user of the word but rather the person who is being told the word Remember in the third grade when he called you stupid? He never thought you were stupid, you did After being told over and over again that you were stupid you finally believed him but yet it motivated you to become the valedictorian of your class just to prove that he was wrong

Who gives the word purpose? The answer to that is not as simple as it may seem Noah Webster did a great job as to defining what words mean but did those words he defined have a purpose You see the meaning of the word is found in the ear and mind of the receiver but the purpose of the word is found in the tongue of the user For only the user can lay down the context and foundation as to the use of every single word he or she uses, regardless of the situation I am the only one that can give these words that I am writing a purpose but it is up to you to give these words a meaning

Words make up the very definition of power Yet that is what they are, power They control every aspect of our lives Our laws, our rules, our job descriptions and our school curriculums are just simply words on a piece of paper, a series of letters If you take apart the words, separate them from each other, you end up with a pile of meaningless words that control your every action

Victims of words

You see here we are ALL victims of words People are being called stupid and dumb, slut and whore we call each other them all No one can escape the power of words for we are the ones that gave them this power in the first place The beholder called a girl a slut because she was pregnant in high school Not once was she ever able to tell him that she was raped by her father over and over again Yet he still called her a slut Just like how his older brother called him dumb when he was three just because he couldn’t spell the word always He wanted to write the phrase I will always love you You yourself were just a victim of words as I just made you feel sympathy for two people who do not exist We have built up this idea that words are just a series of meaningless letters

Let me pose this situation on you At my school, I have to wear a jacket when it is ninety degrees outside because I am not allowed to expose my shouldersOne day I wanted to wear a tank top because it was ninety degrees outsideDon’t you dare tell me that my school is stupid or dumbI don’t want to hear that the boys will get distractedTell me that I can wear what I want to wearLet the phrases that looks cute and I wish I had that ring in my ear

Let me tell you about a story about a girl who when it was found out had sex with four guys, was called a slut and whore For eight months she was called all the names you can think of It wasn’t until her mom told her she wasn’t going to get aids when she killed herself No one ever asked her what happened Not one person cared about what she wanted It wasn’t until her funeral when people found out she was ford into prostitution

This girl was 13

Don’t you ever say that phrase about sticks and stones and how words will never hurt you Everyone is a victim of words because we allow ourselves to be So let me ask you this

What is in a word?I

s it just a collection of words?

Where is the meaning in a word?

Who gives the word purpose?

How do you escape the power of words?

What is your story about words?
