The Inner Kind

Today is just another boring day in Atlanta, Georgia. Trenda and I are so bored it isn’t funny; it’s too hot,
too humid, and too dry to hang out outside, and were to lazy to walk to the swimming hole.
‘I hope Sandra’s mom doesn’t make us go get our brothers at the swimming hole, it is way to far towalk to in this heat.’ Trenda thought.
“Do you know where your brother is Sandra? Why don’t you guys go get your brothers, im worried they’ll get a heat rash, well, im sure…..”
Sandra’s mom kept talking to herself but Trenda and her were already out the door before they had to listen to her anymore.
“ Ugh, I don’t like my mom’s voice, its so high pitched and girly.”
“Sandra, get over your self, just deal with it. Just because your mom isn’t a tomboy like us doesn’t make
her stupid…but your right, it does get a little annoying sometimes.”
“Since when did you switch sides Trenda?”
“I’m not taking sides! Im just stating the facts. Weren’t you planned to be a boy anyways?
Hey, maybe that’s why you’re a tomboy!”
“Trenda! No I was not supposed to be a boy! That is not why im a tomboy!
You can’t say anything about me being one, your just like me!”
We kept bickering back and forth about who was more of a tomboy and we didn’t even realize
that we were right in front of the swimming hole until it was too late, both Trenda and I fell in with a big splash!!
“Heyy!! Get your big butt off of me Trenda!”
“Sorry Sandra, you should have watched where you were going!”
“well you fell in to!”
“I don’t….”
“Will you guys quit bickering! How are you guys even friends? It seems as if all you do is fight!”
Vazin, Sandra’s little brother, said as he interrupted Trenda.
“Be quiet Vazin! It’s none of your business, now come on, we have go home, moms going to kill us if were late.”
“You to Everglade, aren’t you staying the night to?”
“AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!”
“what’s the matter now Sandra??”
“lo…loo….look! The water! It’s…its…it..ITS MOVING!!”
“Great, my best friend is craz…AHH! It’s not moving, its Crawling!”
“Weird…..Trenda, she’s not crazy. I’d know if my sis was crazy, she’s a bit wack, but I see it to.
Hey Everglade, lets follow it! You guys can come to, the more the better.”
“..Uh…”
“Oh common Sandra! It’ll be fun, trust me. I may be 15, but I know when something is going to be fun.”
‘Please say yes, please, please, I like you, I love you! Please Sandra!’
“Fine…..”
‘Yes!’
While Everglade was jumping for joy inside for Sandra to com (hed had a mini crush on…ok a huge! Crush on her),
Sandra was the exact opposite, she was squirming with fear; Fear of the unnatural.
The group of four had to run to catch up with the water, but as they got closer they saw just how weird it was; they were like
little crabs, with blue legs running but with no head or anything of such. Just blue globs with little blue legs.
What they didn’t realize was that they were heading to the deepest darkest part of the Forrest. Before long, something weird happened.
One second, they were watching them a little ways behind them. All of a sudden, the puddle of “things” got smaller, and kept getting smaller.
“What’s happening guys?! There just…disappearing!”
“I don’t know Vazin, but lets go check and see.”
So Everglade and Vazin went ahead of the girls and checked out where the “things” were disappearing to.
“Um…Sandra…Trenda, can you com over here?” Everglade asked.
“Yea, sure, what’s the matter?”
“You guys wont believe me and Everglade unless you come and look yourself.”
“Uh…ok.”
So the Sandra and Trenda headed over to where their brothers were.
What they saw was amazing and transfixed the group to where no one moved. The globs were disappearing into the ground!
It was like they turned back into water and the ground was absorbing them. The group was freaking out now, they had no clue what to do.
When Vazin got tired of pacing around, he leaned up against a tree branch and, it moved! The tree branch moved about 3 inches down, it didn’t break, it had hinges!
A tree with hinges…..things were getting even more crazy. Suddenly, the ground started to shake, and tumble and open up; it opened up as if it was going to eat them all up!
“What the heck is going on!! AHH!”
Vazin was cut off because he had fallen into the black bottomless pit. Then followed Sandra, Who grabbed onto Everglade, who then grabbed onto Trenda.
The whole cluster of kids went tumbling into the black pit, then, all of a sudden, they were surrounded by a weird combination of colors; it was like a kaleidoscope.
Then it changed again, this time it smelled sweet, and cherry blossoms appeared, and soft grass and warmth. Again, it hanged! Not one lasting more than to minutes.
It was changing, changing into a white, a blinding white. Then snow started to hit their faces…wait…no, it wasn’t snow, it was…feathers!! Then, with a PUFF!
They all hit a bunch of cords. Yes, that’s right, cords, like the ones you plug things into the wall with, that kind of cords.
When Sandra finally decided open her eyes, the other kids were already up and walking around, looking up at the sky…well at least that’s what she assumed was the sky.
“This is weird! But sooo cool! Vazin, come check this out with me!” Everglade called over to Vazin.
“Sure, but let me help my sis up first. Here you go Sandra.” out came an ‘Oaff’ when he tried to help her out.
“Gosh, have you gained weight?” He gave a hardy laugh at his own joke, and earned a playful smack from his sister.
“Oh be quiet Vazin,” ha-ha, “You know im the same as always. You’ve just gotten weaker.”
“Whoa….Sandra, Vazin, Everglade, come here…”
They all rushed over to where Trenda was standing. A gasp escaped from all of them at once, and all of them looked up in awe at the thing that was on the ceiling
. A giant blue and red orb was delicately floating about their heads. None of them new what it was, or what it did. They couldn’t help the urge to just…reach out and touch it.
Everglade was the one with enough courage to reach out and touch it. At first he felt nothing, then he felt a strange tingly feeling, then his hand went numb, and came back blazing in pain.
“Ouch! Ok, no one tries to touch that, it hurts like Hello kitty.”
“Really glade? Hello kitty? Ha-ha! I wouldn’t know what that felt like, I don’t play with them.”
“Oh my gosh, Sandra, Glade, quit you childish flirting!”
Both Sandra and Blade start blushing, and I mean madly blushing. Finally, Glade croaked out;
“Ok, well lets get going. We need to get home.”
“But how? We don’t know how we got in here, how are we supposed to know how to get out” Vazin exclaimed.
“I don’t know Vazin, but lets keep walking till we find an opening or something.”
While the group was trying to decide how to get out of this weird place, Trenda got bored and started walking around by herself.
While she was on her little journey, she found another orb like they had before, but this time it was purple, her favorite color to be exact.
She had that same strange urge to touch it, just like she had with the first one. She ignored Everglade’s warning and touched it.
She went through the same symptoms he did, but this time something weird happened.
She tried pulling her hand out of the burning orb, but she couldn’t, instead it dragged her over to here the others were, and then, a loud rumbling sound came.
The nest thing they know, there hurtling through the air towards the sky, hundreds of orbs surrounding them.
They were passing fields, skimming the roofs of farmhouses, until the orb finally dropped them with a thud right before Sandra’s and Vazin’s house.
“Mom, where are you? Mom? Mom!” Vazin and Sandra kept yelling, trying to locate their mom. Finally they found her on the back porch.
“Why didn’t you answer us mom?”
No answer.
“Mom? Mom what’s wrong?”
As Vazin reached out to put his hand on hers, he shuddered away before he could.
“Look.” is all he said. As the rest of them looked closer, they noticed that her skin looked like that of a snake; all leathery and wrinkled, then it started to melt.
Right before their eyes!! It certainly did not look like their mom after all the skin had melted off.
"Vazin! Get away from her!" Sandra and Trenda both screeched.
But it was too late, she snatched vazin up and made a weird hissing noise. The three kids backed up slowly, but it was no use, for the sky had started to come apart.
Then in one great leap, Vazins "mom" snatched up all the kids and took of for what looked like a giant spaceship thingy.
There they were told the story of how when hey were born there was a war going on between humans and computers.
They were the last three of the few humans kept by the computerst to start a new generation.
They met the others and went on with life in a diffrent world, suprisingly happie and content.
