Ch 4: One Week

(The school bell rings, and all of the students exit out the doors. One of the last to leave out of the school is Lipagron. He puts his hands in his pockets and starts walking down the sidewalk towards his house.)

Lipagron: [[What a day... they still think I lied about seeing you... I know what I saw that day... I know that it was you who saved me...]]

Ray: Hey there, how're you doing? Your name's Lipagron, right?

(Lipagron stops and turns around to see Ray walking behind him. Ray is slightly shorter than Lipagron. She has a slightly darker toned skin and light eyes. Lipagron turns back around and continues walking.)

Lipagron: Yep.

(Ray runs a little to catch up to Lipagron and walk by his side.)

Ray: You must be kind of stupid to take on an Ox Doubutsu user. Especially when you don't have Doubutsu abilities yourself.

(Lipagrons voice tone remains low and calm)

Lipagron: I am a Doubutsu user, and one is never stupid when he or she speaks the truth.

(Ray smiles as she looks at him.)

Ray: But it is stupid to speak the truth at the wrong time.

(Lipagron looks Ray in the eyes.)

Lipagron: Is there ever a right time?

Ray: Right now is a convenient time to speak the truth. Can I ask you a question?

Lipagron: What do you want to know?

Ray: Do you really believe that you have seen the legendary Light Beast and acquired its abilities?

(Lipagron looks down as they walk.)

Lipagron:...

(Ray holds out her hand as porcupine needles begin to emerge from her pores.)

Ray: It is said that the only way to get abilities from a Doubutsu is by studying and learning about that particular animal. Only then can one gain its abilities by lifting their hands and speaking out loud, "I accept the abilities of 'blank'." Seeing an actual Doubutsu is 10 times more rare than even finding the Moon Tree. And on top of that, the word 'Doubutsu' means Great Animal. There are oxen, then there is the Great Ox. There are owls, then there is the Great Owl. There are Porcupine, then there is the Great Porcupine. But who has actually seen smaller versions of the Light Beast?

Lipagron: I know! But I know what I saw!

Ray: Back in the classroom, the teacher mentioned that you claimed to have scaled a mountain when you were only 8. Why did you go to a mountain in the first place?

(Lipagron looks back at Ray.)

Lipagron: My parents told me that I'd find the Light Beast there, but even they don't believe that I have actually seen it.

Ray: Do they have the Light Beast's abilities?

Lipagron: I don't know anymore. A part of me wants to believe that that day was just a dream.

Ray: Well you say you have the Light Beast's abilities. So show me.

(Ray smiles at Lipagron. He stops walking.)

Lipagron: Do you believe anything I just told you?

(Ray stops walking and looks at the ground.)

Ray: Not really, because I have been raised to believe that the Light Beast is only a myth.

Lipagron: I see... Then, I am not able to show you.

(Ray looks up at Lipagron smiling.)

Ray: But I know a way that you can prove it to me and everyone!

Lipagron: And how's that?

(Ray laughs and starts running in the opposite direction.)

Ray: Follow me!

(With a confused look on his face, Lipagron runs, following Ray.)

Lipagron: Hey! Slow down! Where are we going?!

Ray: You'll see!
