I move carefully, avoiding the shadows. Staying clear of any dark corner that they can catch me in. Their laughter comes from every direction. They know I cant out run them forever.

The darkness is upon me. I can feel them lingering around. Slowly and patiently waiting to makes their move. I move carefully, avoiding the shadows. Staying clear of any dark corner that they can catch me in. Their laughter comes from every direction. They know I cant out run them forever. The street light starts to flash on and off. I pray for my life that it stays lit. they creep closer as the light begins to dim. One risking its life, reaches up and shatters the bulb. I bolt for safety. Trying to make it to the next light. But I’m not fast enough. One grabs my legs causing me to fall. Smashing my head of the ground, my hands weren’t quick enough to react. Blood starts streaming down my face. But I cant do anything about it now. Everything around me is out of control. Down the street I can see a bunch of lights coming at me. Squinting I try to make them out. As my eyes focus I realize there’s only two lights. Coming at me fast. A car? I’m saved. The shadows hiss as the light gets closer. They squirm away, leaning on the edges. I take advantage and run for my life. Not looking back. Making sure I stay within the light. Finally the safety of my house. One place where even in the dark, they cannot reach me. Safe for another day
