As I reached the mountain I knew that I would have a marvellous view of the top countryside. But the thing that really brought me up here was to see her. I knew she would be sitting on that same mossy rock where she always sat, with that same beautiful black hair that tumble down her back in waves and the same grey eyes staring at the spot where I always enter the meadow.

I reached the top and there she was like always. Her face lit up but her smile didn’t reach her eyes.

“Isabelle.” I said in a whisper.

“Jack!” She stood up and reached for me but like always her translucent hands couldn’t touch my body. A sad look crossed her face. She longed for the tears that would never come.

“Shhhh, don’t worry Issie, its okay, look I’m here.” I tried to lighten up her mood. She turned away, a pained look on her face.

“I don’t know why you keep coming. We will never touch. Never feel, never…” She faltered “kiss again. I hate living like this! A ghost during the day and left to haunt the forests at night…” she trailed off.

Back in my village people were preparing for the night to come, for the Wraith was unhappy tonight. The children were laid to bed, the windows covered and closed. The wailing started in the distance then she was there, ready to take the next life like every week. She stalked through the little houses like a wolf. Ice covering everything she touched.

“Issie stop!”Jack shouted. She froze and turned around.

“Jack?” a confused look crossed her face but only for a second. The predators look returned to her eyes and with one icy hand she took his life…

Two years later…

“The nights are peaceful ever since Jack died.” The boy said with a sad look on his face, missing his brother. He decided to climb the mountain his brother always did. As he reached the top he knew he would see them sitting together on that same mossy rock.

Jack and Isabelle. Forever together…
