I watched as men talked about politics
And I looked across the window
To the tall trees and blue skys
Wondering as they talked of poverty and corrupt officals
And sipped vintage wine out of crystal glasses
How beautiful the world is.
Something everyone is entitled to
Something everyone overlooks.
As some see no farther than their paycheck
I see outside the window
The trees, the sun, the sky,
A gift no currupt politician could confiscate
A gift not even poverty could claim.
People need only look beyond the cloth on their shoulders
Or the linnens on their tables
Too see real wealth
A wealth given, not taken.
But their view is blocked by their crystal glasses
And their minds diverted by politics
And as they lament at the state of the world
I cherish every moment
As I look out the window.
