I am from the womb of a mother,
From the room full of children from the wombs of mothers;
I am from the crib and jumper to shoes and a bed;
I am from bread, fruits, vegetables, meats, grains, fats;
The air I breathe gave life to benevolent kings,
Violent warlords, lepers, priests;
I am from music, from sound and lyrics;
I am from movies, the brilliant images;
If I am not, then I am from the mind,
A product of imagination;
I am from the meaning behind existence
That allows me to sit and write this page;
I am from the Earth that I walk, stand, sit, lay and crawl on;
I am from the trees that the Earth bore,
From the clean air that the trees make,
From a seed, just like the trees;
I am from the sediment of fossils,
The magma of volcanoes, the gentle moonbeams,
The fire of the Sun that brings warmth and light
To my skin and eyes, keeping me from shivering and growing blind;
I am from the Sun, from the magical stardust
That it came from, and the Earth-dust,
And the Mercury-dust, and the Venus-dust, and the Mars-dust;
I am from the stormy Jupiter winds,
From Saturn, the father of the gods and the rings that bind him;
I am from the sky Uranus, turned on its side,
The watery depths of the deceiving Neptunian atmosphere
And the unrelenting deathly chill of Pluto;
I come from dwarves and giants-
The big giants, like Rigel and Betelgeuse;
I am from the farthest reaches of existence,
Quasars, pulsars, radars, cars, stars, Mars;
I’m from the repetitive anaphora used in this poem;
I’m from wholeness, from emptiness,
From good, evil, neutrality, justice,
Law, order, chaos;
I am from Chaos, the void that was once our world;
I am from the point of existence;
Did I come from something else?
I come from questions, like that one;
I come from precision and vagueness,
From God, Allah, Zoroaster, Jehovah,
From Satan, Lucifer, Angra Mainyu
I am from religion, from science,
From the church and state,
From cops and criminals,
Father and mother,
Everything and everyone;
I am from my family and friends;
From beggars and rich men;
Is there something I am not from?
Again, a question;
I am not from myself, am I?
I must be from that answer to the question;
I am from everything, you are from everything;
I am from the connection that binds everything together;
I’m from here, now, for reasons, from why and how…
I am from purpose
