ODRUM DRUM

Fire lights the night with chanting songs

Men of Odrum feasting on their boom harvest

Praise chanted songs thanking Oduma, the god of harvest, for his blessings

The drunk drummers drum with belly full of palm wine

Far the winds carry the cheering chanted voice to the isolated forest

Neighbor villages have their sleep carried away by the Odrum drum

Odrum is known for her palm plantation

The drum suffers from the heavy hands of the drunk drummers whenever there is a boom harvest

Traders from neighboring villages’ trades with Odrum in exchange for her palm products

She gains in return gold and precious beads

Odrum is a lively place to be in boom palm harvest.

It takes the strong to be there.

Odrum drum when drummed drunk the drum of the ear.
