Status: Finished  |  Genre: Gay and Lesbian  |  House: 'The Odd Ones'

Written because I'm still annoyed that there has to be a 'Gay and Lesbian' area on Booksie. Why can't love just be love? Jeez.

A man beaten down for loving his love,
A woman told she won't get love from above,
A boy who just tries to be normal and safe,
A girl who's scared around her family each day.

There's no reason they run other than all the hate,
Don't you think they've enough on their plate?
Confused and alone, now terrified too,
And their scared of the ones that they should love too.

All because we couldn't see through,
To live way back then is downgrading you,
Because the light that shines truly is under our skin,
To love who you love cannot be a sin.

Labby: I'm sorry, but I can't help it. I'm not even religious, but all those people who are just shoving The Bible in people's faces and saying "God hates you!". You know what I say? Any God that hates me is NOT MY GOD. But anyway, I put important religious stuff in here because I can, suckas ^_~

I agree. Love knows no bounds. It doesn't matter your gender or your skin colour and it shouldn't matter what part of the world you live in - what matters is what you feel. The only time I think it's wrong is if your love extends unhealthily to another species; that is wrong.
I myself was raised Catholic, but have turned my back on it. I never understood why you have to go to church in order to display your love for someone. But if you don't go to church then it's difficult for them to swindle a couple bucks from you so . . .
As for those people who say that God hates people because of their sexual orientation, I agree with you. That is not a god I want to be associated with. I don't bother associating with any religion now - most of them are about being right and forcing others to see things their way. I just want to live in peace.
In regards to the 'Gay and Lesbian' section of Booksie, I don't think that's to discriminate, rather to help people find those particular stories. Some people want to specifically read those stories and having a section for it makes it so much easier to find them, rather than having to search through countless stories in the romance department. And not all 'Gay and Lesbian' stories are about romance - some are dramatic, personal confessions, etc. So I think having the section is helpful. Without it and the other categories, it would be like going to a record store that limits its music genres to rock, classical, techno, jazz. There are so many sub-genres, that getting specific helps the browser.
Anyways, a good write, Labby. Powerful, effective words.

Hehe, wow, I LOVE long comments ^_^ Yeah, I see what you're saying. I guess money's everything in this world nowadays. "You want to go to church? It'll cost you." "You want to get a good education? Pay up." Also, yeah, I guess the category makes sense. I just pondered whether I should put it in Romance or Gay and Lesbian ^_^' Anyway, thanks Jeff ^_^

Any person who tells you that God hates you can't be a Christian by definition. Jesus said "Do not judge" (Matthew 7:1), and his favorite disciple John confirmed that "God is love" (1 John 4:3). Furthermore, Jesus has never uttered a single word against homosexual people.

I'm a believing Christian, and I declare together with you that any god that hates you is not my God. You can be absolutely certain that God loves you. That is what the Bible teaches. Trust Him with your heart, let Him be your guide, not those people who dare speak for Him in such a hateful fashion.

Thanks ^_^ I understand that there are some lovely Christians out there (like yourself), but it seems I've gotten the bad bit ^_^' Yes, that would be great, a God that looked after me, but I feel from this point, I can't be sure if I have enough faith to believe in any God ^_^' Thank you anyway, though.

It's interesting how people say something against another because of them not understanding or believing in others. I'm gonna try not to say to much on my personal stuff cause that's boring but I'm a lesbian under a christian household, and without them knowing of my sexual preference, They haven't said any reason why homosexuality is a sin other than "It's bad". Well, Why is it bad? No real proof behind it. Anyway, Nice poem. You homo? just curious.

Yes, I am homo, and it's true, not many good reasons can be given against gay people, even in the Bible. In the Bible, God doesn't hate gay people. He doesn't hate anyone, that's kind of his thing. Anyway, thanks for reviewing.
