I don't know. Wish I'd get out of this funk and let all you talented poets have at it. I sit down to write though and this is what comes out. Where the hell has all my erotica gone? I think I'm going to have to take my freak flag down and put it away for a bit.

Night Songs

They sing to me as my head rests on the pillow

Calling out to me seductively

Crying out until each chirp echoes my name

Distracting my slumber

Silently searching in the dark

I reach out for his warmth

Drawing his strength close

Molding our bodies until they are fused into one

Our breaths synchronized as if in harmony

Still they sing for me a song of longing

That echoes endlessly through my restless mind

Are these night songs the reason for your insomnia? You know, I think that you should fly the flag at half mast at least because this is still erotic! Plus I like this funk - I love your poetry, just ride with it. :) ~ Nixie

Ha! Ok, I'm at half mast then! At least until I can get my groove back. Thanks for the wonderful compliment. It tickles me that you like it.

I really like this poem Lacey.....

I must have the same mind as Nixie as I still get the erotic longing from this poem. The need for someone close to entwine with in the darkness.

Wonderful poem

Thank you so much! I suppose it is rather erotic. A bit more subtle then my other stuff. I'm so pleased that you liked it, Boneman!

yes, definitely half mast! LOL. I like it too, the idea of listening to the night?/crickets?/frogs?/yourself? and longing for something. :-)

Crickets is what I had in mind, but I suppose you could use anything. Thanks! I'm glad that you liked it.

They call out..."hey foxy fiery red head! show us what you got!" ....it's only when you turn to cuddle that you hear the actual song of the chirps.

It's sooooo easy in life to slip into familiarity however sometimes that familiarity stunts our emotional growth. Takes a very long time to realize that our emotional growth has been stunted and it is at that time that nature and the universe start sending us signs to wake up. Your sleep is over, now get on your hiking boots because the terrain is rough but if you simply listen to what lovely little things like hummingbirds and dragonflies do for us then do you start your trek to your path to the soul of the universe.

Amazing how I react so naturally to your mind and how all of this is what came out when I read your poetry. poetry. poetry. poetry. (echoes down here)

Only certain people notice something changes. The rest of the world never realize that there is no growth or maybe, just maybe, they are truly happy.

Keep writing with fire, foxy red head.

Ha! I always love your comments! Yes, that was exactly what I had in mind. That feeling that things are the same, yet somehow different. I think what you said about emotional growth being stunted and the universe sending out signals is very insightful. Reading your thoughts and comments is just as much fun as writing the poetry itself. Thanks Peach!

the sense of longing in a restless mind, wanting something just out of reach for the moment. i think this is one of the best i have read for a while lacey.

Thank you! Coming from such a wonderful poet that is a very nice compliment. "Its subtly erotic" I love that! I think I'm normally kind "in your face". :) Thanks for reading it Snow.

This is very romantic poem. I love it. It makes me wish that I had someone to share something like that. Excellent job my friend. The heart of a poet definately shows within the words that ou write. I love it. :)

Thanks. Maybe I wanted to show LC could write something besides erotica. Plus, the erotica just isn't pouring out of me these days. Thanks for reading.

Hey....just coming back to read other comments (actually just hoping i'm not insane)...

another thought tho...crickets and critics are such similar words.

you're mind was racing when you wrote this.

Lol! I hadn't thought of that. You know that makes me wonder about myself, because I have been unusually conscious of critics lately. Hmmm? I bet a therapist would have a ball with me these days. :) Thanks for coming back Peach!
