Night Songs
They sing to me as my head rests on the pillow
Calling out to me seductively
Distracting my slumber
I reach out for his warmth
Molding our bodies until they are fused into one
Still they sing for me a song of longing

Are these night songs the reason for your insomnia? You know, I think that you should fly the flag at half mast at least because this is still erotic! Plus I like this funk - I love your poetry, just ride with it. :) ~ Nixie
Sun, May 25th, 2008 7:57amI really like this poem Lacey.....
I must have the same mind as Nixie as I still get the erotic longing from this poem. The need for someone close to entwine with in the darkness.
Wonderful poem

yes, definitely half mast! LOL. I like it too, the idea of listening to the night?/crickets?/frogs?/yourself? and longing for something. :-)
Sun, May 25th, 2008 2:30pmThey call out..."hey foxy fiery red head! show us what you got!" ....it's only when you turn to cuddle that you hear the actual song of the chirps.
It's sooooo easy in life to slip into familiarity however sometimes that familiarity stunts our emotional growth. Takes a very long time to realize that our emotional growth has been stunted and it is at that time that nature and the universe start sending us signs to wake up. Your sleep is over, now get on your hiking boots because the terrain is rough but if you simply listen to what lovely little things like hummingbirds and dragonflies do for us then do you start your trek to your path to the soul of the universe.
Amazing how I react so naturally to your mind and how all of this is what came out when I read your poetry. poetry. poetry. poetry. (echoes down here)
Only certain people notice something changes. The rest of the world never realize that there is no growth or maybe, just maybe, they are truly happy.
Keep writing with fire, foxy red head.

Ha! I always love your comments! Yes, that was exactly what I had in mind. That feeling that things are the same, yet somehow different. I think what you said about emotional growth being stunted and the universe sending out signals is very insightful. Reading your thoughts and comments is just as much fun as writing the poetry itself. Thanks Peach!
