Waiting.

I’m thinking

of inferior things

that won’t ever matter.

why can’t I focus

on what's important?

Waiting.

I should be thinking

about who I might never see

again.

I should be thinking

about who might be dead

tomorrow,

and I never said goodbye.

My throat dries and closes

just thinking of it,

thinking of you

lifeless.

My thirst never quenches,

Never ceases.

It stays.

Only your voice

and your smile

will suffice

as a sweet drink

pleasing my thirst

so I can relax.

Your voice, your nice smile

will suffice.

I can finally be happy

without feeling guilty.

Just seeing you walk in a room

could dry my tears

and take the shame

away from my smile.
