Inspired by Nastia Liukin winning the gold medal for the women's all around gymnastics in the Bejing Olympics. It was late at night when I watched it and I was filled with a sudden fierce pride for my country as I watched the medal ceremony. So, I harnessed that feeling by writing a poem about it! I hope you enjoy it, and please comment! :)

Beautiful Flame

Tumbling with strength
And leaping with ease
Twirling and spinning
It seems like a breeze

An eye for the gold
Competition is tough
If she gives it her all
It just might be enough

The pressure is heaping
She settles on in
The familiar rhythm
With grace like the wind

All is said and done
Her dream circles her neck
Through endless routines
To the top she did trek

She stands now in glory
And glowing inside
Is a beautiful flame
Of fierce country pride
