Inside the air is warm
Outside the snow falls thin
And dainty, like lace
On a cloud

Darkness envelopes me
The stars twinkle melodies
Above my head
And the wind stirs
Symphonies from leaves
Brown and drying

A light pierces the dark
Stabbing my eyes
In bright violence
Its source a tall
Black lamp

Nestled amid the branches
That cling and grasp
At my clothes and my hair
As I move past it
Away from the glow

The snow crunches
Silently beneath my
Feet, bare and pink
The cold tingles
Toes as they fight
To hold their ground

This winter wonderland
I’ve come upon
In my own backyard
Like walking into Narnia
Wrapping myself in
Memories
