The White Feather.

Poem by: ladygothicka

Summary

Co-written by my mother. She wrote it six weeks before my birth, and it was intended that my father would finish it. Sadly he left her before I was born, then died before he could finish it. The second stanza was written (by me) in his memory.

Show me the time to meet life's end,
give me the time to share with friends.
Show me how to move one more step,
give me the chance to love once more.
Show me the way back to childhood joy,
give me the chance to express my fears.
Show me the way to dance along the last path,
give me eternal rest to meet true peace.
That's all I ask as the clock winds down.

Give me a life that won't fall apart,
show me a shield that will not die.
Give me a love that will not leave me,
show me a man who won't hate me.
Give me a home that still feels warm,
show me a mum who'll hold me close.
Give me a shoulder upon which to cry,
show me a life where I don't have to lie.
I hold the white feather you gave me,
and I weep for all that I lost. For
you are dead, and I never said goodbye.
