To the one that got away...

Do you remember us my love? High school sweethearts, we were so young then....you and your kango, your cocky grin, straight white teeth complementing your dark chocolate skin. And me, melted caramel skin with geri curled hair, beaming smile with libra sun warmth. We would stand by the window between periods. Me enveloped in your arms, my head on your chest...heart beating to the rhythym of yours. You were Brookyn's finest chocolate. Your wrapper was plain, crumpled, ordinary. But unwrapped it was dark, complex, soulful, and beautifully bittersweet.  I was too consumed with your outer wrapper then. And now, your heart belongs to her....to one that can love and appreciate you better than I. You were Brooklyn's Finest Chocolate the one I gave away.
