The First Leaf of autumn

A soft and gentle wind blew through the trees

and whispered tales of adventure, to the leaves

and left one yearning, for a life she had never known,

to taste and feel the places, where the wind had blown.

And so she fell upon the air and gently drifted there

and flew across the fields and the winding rivers where

she danced with joy until the wind finally let her down

to die in splendour, the first leaf of autumn, on the ground.
