There are many excellent devices
on the market that use AoE to transfer files between a Polk Audio PSW10
computer or NAS (Network Attached Storage) hard drive and a digital
audio device or a home entertainment system to transport.
Think about Sonos, Meridian Sooloos, Linn, Naim and
Squeezebox (to name but a few popular brands and names). Audio
over Ethernet may sound fantastic, but some brands require
communicate, creating yet another kind of "closed system" is created.
And although this is absolutely not limited performance, it is somewhat
to take into account when purchasing such a system.
Please also note that the iTunes interface does not allow for
music over ethernet to non-Apple devices to send, although
some brands - such as Sonos - is the root directory on the hard
disk containing the iTunes music files approach.
