I wrote this poem base on the movie " Black Hawk Down"....

Its a poem about a soldier whom I imagined to be part of a reinforcement squad whose Black Hawk that dropped them is taken down....

I sit in the Black Hawk buckled up waiting calmly

Waiting for the cue attentively ------Not wanting to miss a sound

We reach rendezvous point and disperse swiftly

Sliding down the rope smoothly then landing at the ground

The squad assumes battle position instantaneously...............

When all cleared, we hit the dirt rushing out

With clouds of dust in path that is blinding.....

As we run to our objective without a single doubt---

In the air, I heard crossfires and screams of men dying

Suddenly--- dirt kicks up and we all duck......

Bullets ricochets past me as I crawl for cover

They are shooting at me without much luck........

--------------------------------------------------------------

Simultaneously explosions rumble the walls as we teeter

-------------------------------------------------------------

Then our sergeant cusses out a "F__k!"

I wondered why then frowned.......................

Because what I hear on the radio-------

is HQ repeating the announcement

------------------------------------------------------------

" WE HAVE A BLACK HAWK DOWN "
