The timer on the cooker is beeping loudly,
Disturbing me from my slumber on the sofa.
Will somebody please press the button,
To turn off the god-awful noise?

The same goes for the telephone,
Ringing in my ear like a wailing baby.
Will somebody please answer the phone,
To turn off the terrible ringing noise?

And as for the television,
Well that's another story.
Will somebody please change the channel,
To turn off this rubbish reality programme?

Now there's somebody knocking on the door,
No doubt it's a friend or two coming around for tea,
But I'm afraid I'm rather busy,
For you see, I have the flu.
