All Souls’ Eve

Silly folks,

Silly folks;

I sigh to watch and hear them

And children shouting trick or treat;

All have been tricked

And treated with money

And all sorts of candy sweet.

Sold is their soul,

Sold to the holiday,

Sold on its profit

Bought and sold,

Sold and bought

And innocent fun

With hideous disguises,

With regard for what Christ despises.

While Beelzebub, Beelzebub

Giggles and chuckles,

They know not their danger,

Every man trusts his neighbor.

So I sigh, watch, and listen—

But also pray for the silly folks too.
