What do you see when you're looking out your window at night?

The Night,
A very window to my soul.
With hands pressed against frigid glass, I look up at the stars.
Pin pricks against the velvety black,
Like my heart, with very little light to guide me.
Walking blindly down my path, pain is all I know.
Yet as I stare across the darkest sea,
An arm reaches out, reaching out to me.
Gently tracing fingers across my cheek,
Brushing these old tears away, shed in vain for broken lives.
As certain as I seem, I’ve never known,
This tenderness that light has surely shown.
The Sun illuminates my ocean,
So deep and dark and blue and never ending.
He takes me in his grasp and holds on tight,
Assuring me that I will be alright.
This path I’ve walked with eyes so clouded and scarred,
Clears and leads me to the edge.
“Jump,” he says, “What is life without the risk?”
“Jump. You are truly worth the fall.”
For a moment I fear of everything I’ll lose.
What I hold on to, what keeps me here.
But there is nothing…
So I leap.
And freedom shortly follows.
