A poem of my grief when my mom and her boyfriend broke up. Tommy was the closest thing I have ever had to a father, functioning alcoholic or not. He was kind and just damn it... My soul still aches from the loss.

Sitting here with tears trembling in my eyes, for I have lost him.
I grab my very best friend.
Take a swig...
A burning sensation tickles my throat and I feel instantly warm.
I'll mix it with coke or some juice...
I'll have the smile I desire in the end.
This is the drinking song for those in the low...
Tell the world to fuck off and you'll glow.
No more pain or sorrow...
New friends you'll have for tomorrow.
I'll miss him more than I'll miss the others...
The only father figure I'd ever bothered with...
But now he's gone and I take a drink.
This rum is the anwser I have sought.
This is the drinking song for those in the low...
Tell the world to fuck off and you'll glow.
No more pain or sorrow...
New friends you'll have for tomorrow.
The pastor in that run down church gives me my anwser.
We share a bottle in the pews and go tumbling ever after.
Then there's that girl who's awful fine and I rather fancy.
We share the rum and into the bed  with clothes flying the distance.
The milkman, the paper boy, the anchorman on tv...
We all share a common taste and it isn't a cup of tea!
This is the drinking song for those in the low...
Tell the world to fuck off and you'll glow.
No more pain or sorrow...
New friends you'll have for tomorrow...
This is the drinking song for the low!
The drinking song for the low!!
