A A A

A rose is a rose, though quite varied each be
In color, in size and design.
And though such variety you and I see,
Each one is considered quite fine!

For one may be smooth and of texture serene,
While others are thorny and bold.
But neither is thought to be “ugly” or “mean.”
They’re both to be treasured, I’m told.

In fact, it’s the thorny ones oft’ wrapped in tales
Of love unrequited or shared.
So pricked though we are by a thorn that us ails,
It’s our own clumsy fault that is aired.

So why not, then, view everyone whom we know
As roses of varying style.
And thus in no matter how they “prick”us so,
We’ll still think about them and smile.
