After I first had the pleasure of communicating with deaf people in their own language, I was inspired by how they perceptive they are when we attempt to communicate with them, and how it is not our hands that communicate as much to them as it is our face and body language.

Ears I have that do not hear , but I see more than you.
And I can comprehend much more than you may think I do.
For though I cannot hear the words that you may choose to say,
I always see far deeper than your words speak anyway.

Your words say this, your words say that.  The others nod and grin.
But I can sense whatever you are feeling deep within.
Please don’t be too uncomfortable that I am so aware.
I merely hope you’re comforted in knowing that I care.

For when you paint a picture with your hands and face, I see
Expressions that you cannot hide; they’re very clear to me.
Yes, I perceive a whole lot more than what the others can;
And I can read those feelings that lie deep inside of man.

Communication doesn’t mean just words you choose to say.
Remember, face and body language all comes into play.
So if you have some thoughts to share or some you must confide,
Take heart that I will also see the ones you cannot hide.
