In a deep pond, its surface glimmering like a soft, clear gemstone, a tiny girl peeps out from under a water lily. Her hair is a thick copper, a mass of molten coins slipping down her back like a waterfall. Her eyes follow a small fish with their quiet gaze, and she pushes leaves aside as she hops from leaf to leaf. Framing her like curtains are ripples of water weed and rushes, all bowing to the royalty who now steps onto the river bank and turns, surveying the path behind her. She smiles, quite without cause, and disappears into the trees in a rush of copper and a whisper of wind.
