It was nine months that past,
Nine months of mystery.
Before upon you eyes cast,
A wee boy so wrinkly.

You were held in our arms,
As you peacefully slept.
Your head in our palms,
As softly you wept.

The world before your eyes,
So large and new to you.
To us you were a sunrise,
So beautiful, warm and true.

When your parents took you home,
You were their new little mister.
And with innocent eyes you roam,
New sights and also your sister.

As week one passes by,
slowly you grow.
Though you continue to cry,
We see your character show.

In the years to come,
We'll look back on these days.
Remember day one,
Lil' Lachlan always.

The world is your oyster,
Do with it what you will.
Supply it with your laughter,
And astound it with your skill.

I welcome you Lachie,
To this place called Earth.
A part of our family,
Through the miracle of birth.
