WHO CARES?

You’re happy,

Disappointed,

Miserable

And eventually angry.

You’re breathing,

Prosperous,

In the pink

And allegedly enchanted

You’re successful,

Famous,

Glamorous

And apparently blessed.

Applause keeps you hungry,

Envy nourishes pride,

Praise inflates ego

Reputation imprints hollow ideas within the mind

And your demise tattooed on every front page

While the vampires feasts on your blood.

Yet you still claim the spotlight

The camera’s transitory flashlight

As you show off your recently atrophied conquest

Your eminent demise fatedly ordained

With your habits and addictions nudely exposed

And your shallow mind will soon recognize enlightenment

Save yourself… from yourself

Beget not wisdom from scars

For the world shall substitute you in an instant

And your memory instantaneously forgotten

By the bloodsuckers you’re trying so hard to impress

Realise your salvation within the question…

“Who cares?”

And you might be rescued!
