De Sterrennacht is dutch for THE STARRY Night. this poem is for Laurel's challenge. I had to write about Starry Night by Van Gogh. enjoy!

Igo out on my roof

in the middle of the night

and look up to the sky

to stare at the bright lights.

***

Tonight they seem so close

that I'm sure that I can touch them,

but they're always out of reach

no matter how far I stretch.

***

But these thigs that shine so bright

and so beautiful at night

are meant to be left untouched

Our hands are too tainted

and our eyes are too weak

to go where the stars are

no matter how tempting

it may be.

***

Some things are better

when they are left alone,

but they're always filling our hearts

with feelings from above.

Man I always loved that painting :D

And, amazing poem to go with it. I really liked your poem, especially the tone that it was written, I think it was really fitting to the picture you were given :)

And I think it's very true, especially the last stanza.

A challenge well done and a great poem.

Keep up the good work.

You did an awesome job of relating it to the painting. You know how some stuff has a theme song? I feel like your poem was the equivalent to a theme song for Starry Night. =D

I love your tone in this poem. Its very serious and almost melancholy = awesomeness ;). But I have to say my favorite lines are :

Some things are better

when they are left alone,

but they're always filling our hearts

with feelings from above.

I love it and I might just quote it in day-to-day conversation! Great poem.
