It may be summer outside,

but she feels as if

snow is softly sinking on her skin

and melting inside of her,

making her heart freeze.

*

Her friends are gone

and they wouldn't understand

the way she feels inside.

She knows that there is no one.

She wants this feeling to end;

the feeling of her heart weighing as much as

the bed she now sits on.

*

She waits, deciding

if this is what she should do,

hold the gun to her heart

and BANG!

let the bullet tear it in two.

*

She sets down the gun,

turns, and starts to run

to make it into the summer heat

where, maybe, the idea will seem dumb.

*

Dub, dub

dub, dub

her heart  is crashing into her chest,

letting her know

that living

is maybe for the best.
