The Knight's Enigma

Poem by: Liam Strong

Summary

This is one of three poems, or fables, if you will, that I also wrote a year ago...they all have the same chivalrous, knight-ly style to them. This one's more of a tune. Enjoy!

Another day's work ahead 'o me

A life to take, a life for me carefree.

I put on my harness of iron,

Grasping my blade for another day's earn.

I feel not as a knight, but a sellsword:

Fighting aimlessly for another slumlord.

Striving as if my life has no meaning-

The peasants gather 'round the dead--I can hear them mourning.

I have no worries,

Just more lands to seize

Though, perhaps one day I will be thrown in a cell:

And perhaps there I could dream a spell.
