I wrote this essay/speech for my English class and it was a favorite from everyone so i hope you guys like it too!

I have come today to speak on a problem much larger than myself. It is larger than all of us, yet all of us are the problem. This problem could very well be the end of all of us, so it is our job to fix it. This problem is racism and violence. I know for a fact that everyone in this room has learned about Martin Luther King’s feats against racism and hatred, but has everyone learned from it? I know for a fact you have learned about Mohandas Gandhi and his non-violent acts of protest, but have we learned from it?
I ask this today because I do not think we have. There is just as much hatred, racism, and cruelty in the world now as there has ever been. Even in this school. Almost every year there is a large fight or group of fights commonly called the “Race Wars”, the race wars?! I mean seriously you have to be kidding me!
There is a quote by Robert Kennedy that I would like to recite. It reads, “What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love and wisdom, and compassion to ward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black.”
I personally agree with that statement, and not only to the white and black, but it should apply to all races. Whites, Blacks, Asians, Mexicans, Indians, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, any minority in the U.S. today!
Why can we not live in peace? Why must we always nitpick at every stupid little difference between all of us? Why waste time on being cruel to others, when we could be bettering ourselves? If we would all just get along we would have so much more done!
I mean think about it we waste so much time and energy on weaponry, violence, trying to figure out how we are to stop the wars going on! If we would get along there would be no war, or violence, or need for weaponry! We would probably have a man on mars by now, we would have probably inhabited the Moon by now, we would have probably found a cure for cancer by now, and AIDS, and Down syndrome, world hunger, and everything else important, but instead we waste precious time fighting and bickering and going to war.
If you think about it the human race is just a giant waste of time working towards impending doom. Every bomb, every gun, every soldier, every stupid decision, is just leading us to a dead end.
 As John Lennon once said, “Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one.”

I thought you done a very good job with this and it was all so true. People are so ignorant when it comes to what's important and what's not. Race is not important..we are all people and we are all living the same life. We all make mistakes and we all gain success'. Instead of helping each other through the tough times and praising each other when successful..we fight and harm and just don't get it. Hopefully one day the world may know more peace..but the future as of now isn't looking very bright. Excellent job with this piece =]

I agree but i think expressing this in a more extreme form might get the point across.
