When you are truly in love, you never stop to think,
You carry on running baths and making their favourite drink,
You cook their favourite meals and play their favourite song,
Then they dump you and tell you that what you did was wrong.
When you truly feel passion, you are unselfish in bed,
You carry on giving massage and continuously give them head,
You flatter them and pamper them; and donate to them your heart,
Then they say they feel inadequate; and it's for the best we part.
When you are truly in love, you give to them your time,
You write heartfelt love songs and pages of meaningful rhyme,
You pick them up from work and take them on special dates,
Then they say you shouldn't bother and you should have gone out with your mates.
When you truly feel passion, you split in half your money,
You try to be creative in bed, you try to keep things fresh and always try to be funny,
You share with them all you have, your time, your love, your things, your mind,
Then they fuck off with someone else and happily leave you behind.
At this point, you look about you, at the things you thought you had
You feel fat, useless, overweight, poor, silly, bereft...
Of all the things you thought you once had and were
And this is simply, starkly, truly; 'All That You Have Left'
