From the very first second that you open an eye

You breathe, you cry

You are one step nearer

To the day you will die.

And from the first steps on the living room floor

You teeter, step once more

You are one pace closer

To heavens front door.

From the very first second you learn to speak

You talk, words leak

You are one sentence closer

To your final week.

From the very first second you go to school

You learn, play the fool

You are one lesson closer

To hitting the wall.

From the very second you fall in love

Find the girl, fits like a glove

You are one romance nearer

To the great love above.

From the very second you encounter great sex

You experiment, become complex

You are one fling closer

To being an ex.

From the very first second you carve a career

You accelerate, hit sixth gear

You are one pay packet closer

To your final day here.

From the very first second you learn how to blink

How to live, how to think

You are one blink closer

To being grey not pink.

From the very first second you learn how to exist

Enjoy yourself, do drugs, get pissed

You are one night out away from

Being 'sadly missed'
