This poem is about someone making amends to someone they had wronged. The two people talked about in this story are best friends.
This poem is a haiku I had to make in class. There was no particular inspiration for this one, but I love it all the same and I hope you do too.

I have come this far
To make amends for something
I did wrong before
I hold out my hand
My apology well thought
I know it by heart
I start but lose my
Way. In a sentence I stop
Because I know you
You won't forgive easy
You take apologies and
Throw them to the wind
When I try to leave
You don't let go, you hold on
And I stop and turn
You pull me in and
Hold me close dear friend, for what
Seems eternally
And in that moment
I realize that you need me
To keep you sane here
On this plane of Earth
Where feelings are ignored and
Burned to the stake
Where feelings can't be
Trusted or believed in or
Followed to the edge
I hold you close and
Comfort you, your innocence
All torn and ragged
I make a promise
To protect you from this pain
You smile softly
