A poem about the idea of original thought. We are all only following on from our predecessors and trying to leave our own inimitable mark on the world. The reality is that there is very little original thought out there and at the end of the day...what does that matter? We can not clearly determine what is innately ours and what comes to us as a result of influential moments, experiences, conversations with others. We are all a product of innumerable factors and must accept each others struggles, faults and dreams.

In the Long Run

Aim high. That's a natural trait,

of most who inhabit the world's small space.

Striving for more to be or do,

this instinct has seemingly seen us through

from age to age, we've left our mark,

emerging brighter from a past

of genius that have gone before

and opened up so many doors to the future

that is now ours.

Yet all through time there's been a balance;

those who drift and those who challenge

life to deal it's toughest hand

so they can prove they've made a stand

against the turmoil we all face

and give back something to the human race.

All of us bring different gifts,

understanding this can heal the rift

between the peoples of this earth

for all of us have equal worth.

In the long run, Earth to Earth.
