Bittersweet

Once upon a dreary night

I tried to release you with all of my might

My mind always wandering, always returning to you

I clung to the hope our love was true

Simple and naïve, too young to know too much

I fell in love with you, your words, your voice, your touch

Down a steep slope I tumbled, never looking back

Never knowing all the empathy and depth you lack

Looking back I’d never change a thing, not a single moment in time

For you’re the inspiration of this piece, without you id lack rhyme

My wound from you was so fresh with sting, now, it is merely a scar

Eventually it will fade away, for I now know who you are
