I have forgotten your face I can only remember those sad eyes of blue. It has been a while and I think of you still. The ache of loss still rings in my ears. I always had a feeling of almost- when we were together. I missed you even when you were near.

Sitting by my side but utterly preoccupied. As if you were a piece of art to gaze upon. If I held my stare too long you would crumble like a Greek myth. I could only feel your jagged edges and cool manner. It was a matter of time before verse turned to terse. I knew that as did you. So even as you stayed you would push me away. A wrinkle in time as they say. I will find another you on a different day.

As time has passed I have wondered if we are somehow closer in truth when our bodies are farther apart. This idea of distance is familiar to me. I sometimes find myself reaching my hands to your side of the bed. I try once again to recall those sad eyes of blue.
