The Mean Season
Summer was not my season for love.
The feelings of loss just stayed on my skin like the humidity.
The heat exhausted me as did my thoughts.
The time stood still like the warm evening air.
It was not the best of times – or the worst of times –
I was just stuck – in the moment …

The insults stung -like a swarm of bees.
The dark words encircled me like a summer storm.
But it is nearly fall now
The crisp air - the change of colors.
A cool breeze from another wind.
A feeling of freshness -of possibility and of hope
I am falling again –
Into a different season – a kinder one.
